Pumpkin soup

  • 1 butternut pumpkin de-seeded,peeled and chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 liter chicken stock
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 4 potatoes peeled and chopped
  • 1-2 tablespoon crushed garlic
  • handful of bacon pieces
  • thyme
  • tarragon
  • sage
  • rosemary
  • mixed Italian herbs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • sour cream


  • Add everything except sour cream cook till tender - 6hrs on low
  • Then blitz in a blender till pureed
  • If you want it thicker add more cooked potato
  • Serve with a dollop of sour cream and crusty bread on the side

  1. I made this today for myself and 9 month old. It was amazing but i used cooking cream instead of sour cream to make it a little smoother for bub. Love the favour and the smokey flavor of the bacon.
