Total Time 1 hour 20 minutes
Servings 2 large or 4 small serves

Ingredients

  • 1 cup quick cook oats
  • 2 cups milk (or your preferred non dairy milk substitute)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • pinch salt
  • 3-4 large, fresh medjool dates, pit removed and diced
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Toppings options

  • Honey, banana, berries or other fruit of choice, dollop of coconut yoghurt or some nuts. The options are endless

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients (except topping options) in 1.5L slow cooker
  • Cook on HIGH for approx. 70 minutes
  • As cookers can vary in heat keep an eye on yours to ensure it stays moist enough and doesn’t dry out or overcook. Remember too if you use a larger cooker it will be emptier and therefor cook faster too
  • Serve into plates and drizzle with honey and fruit/nuts/yoghurt/topping of your choice

This is so easy and fuss free, we easily do it 4 or 5 times a week for breakfast/brunch/lazy Sunday night 🙂

We have also done a double batch in the Westinghouse 3.5L searing sc which only takes slightly longer.

We don’t use the dates though

The best breakfast ever. I can’t wait to have it each morning. So delicious, full of flavour and it reheats well with the addition of extra milk. You really must try this, so easy to do, only 5 mins of your time and 70 minutes later or you make it the night before and breakfast is ready to serve with your favourite toppings ???????
