  • FAQ:
  • No Tea Towel Needed
  • Vinegar: White or Malt - I have used both and its still great
  • Sugar: White or Brown - I have used both and its still great
  • Tomato Sauce - is what we in NZ call it - in some countries this is Ketchup - this is not Passata or a pasta sauce - its the stuff you dip your chips (french fries) into
  • Yes there is coffee in it, its only 1 teaspoon and you cant taste it as coffee - its just gives flavour to the sauce
  • Its Meatloaf - you can try different minces, some people do without the sausage meat - it should all still work fine, this is just the recipe I was given.

  1. Loved this meatloaf recipe. The only thing I changed was that I cooked it in a conventional oven for about an hour as my son is unable to eat slow cooker meals for a little while following a bone marrow transplant.

  2. First ever Meatloaf I’ve made & was delighted. Hubby is a huge Meatloaf fan so the pressure was on & I think I nailed it! It’s now on our regular meals list.
Really easy & very tasty & tender. Definitely a winner!

  3. It was first time doing a meatloaf in sc and the first after the last one failed miserably years ago. All I can say is yummy. Will definitely become a family staple. Left the onion out but used onion salt instead. Even toddler cleaned his plate

Absolutely love this meatloaf recipe! Actually it was my first attempt at making any type of meatloaf ever and it was a total success 🙂 It is so easy and delicious and the whole family loved it and simply served with mashed potatoes and the amazing gravy (it is sensational). I think the only problem I had with this meatloaf was convincing everyone not to go back for seconds and thirds so there was some leftover for sandwiches the next day , which are also amazing with a little leftover gravy on them. Will be a regular go to meal in this house because of the fact that the entire family really enjoy it and it is so easy to prepare.

Oh my, this recipe is 100% massive hit with myself and my partner who is picky and said it’s the best his ever had. I love meatloaf and this one has topped them all. It came out mouth watering, it never came out dry at all. And the sauce was magnificent. I’ll be definitely making this again 100%.

  6. Tried this tonight and it was lovely boys said cook this again. So thumbs up from the 5 & 6 year olds. I followed the recipe and it worked a treat.
    Thank you Sonia

This is the same as my family used to have. I was abit unsure how it would go in the slow cooker but thought well it’s pretty much cooking the same way really and gave it ago. And it was delish ?so much easier doing it in the slow cooker. Only thinki did different was added 1 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice to the sauce and i didnt have curry so skipped that
My daughters favourite word tonight more ?

I have a big family and would like to double the sausage meat, would I double all other ingredients as well?

  10. Very nice. Kids loved it. It’s close to my oven recipe but so easy just having it cook away. Definitely cook again ?

  11. I have a 7L slow cooker. Will it still work if I shape the meatloaf to have it sit in the middle of the slow cooker or will it fall apart?

  12. Family loved it..though i didnt follow meat ratio and recipie..
Sauce was a bit to much, very strong.
Made it 2 ways, one way straight in the slow cooker, with a teatowel, very runny.
The other way is in a baking/foil,log shaped sling, and didnt add sauce till half way through, i feel this one was nicer.

  13. An amazing moist and tasty dish. I do it in the oven in a covered dish or stove top in a heavy based covered pan. Improves the next day but feeds a bunch of people so not always any left.

  14. So, I decided to give this one a try tonight and I have to say that nobody was disappointed..
    Yummmmmm…!
I did change a few things but I don’t think they would have made a difference…
I added about 1tbs of Worcestershire sauce to the meatloaf ingredients and an extra 1/4 cup breadcrumbs…
    Delicious..

  15. What a great feed, my only gripe is that there was too much liquid, however, it was still delicious and definitely on the menu again.
For some reason it won’t allow me to rate on my phone so I give this 4.5 stars.

  16. my meatloaf is cooking now but I’d like to know how you get the glazing to look as does? was something else added to make it look so good?
