Equipment

  • 3.5L or larger slow cooker

Ingredients

  • Ready Made Raw Meatballs (approx 40)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 500 gram jar PASTA BAKE sauce (see notes)
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup grated cheese (to serve)
  • Hot dog rolls (to serve)

Instructions

  • Add onions to slow cooker and place raw meatballs on top of onion.
  • Combine the pasta bake sauce and BBQ sauce and pour over.
  • Cook for 4hrs on low.
Don’t stir at all until final 90mins, then gently move them around. This way they’ll always stay perfectly intact and separated with no need to pre cook or brown them etc.
  • Serve on hotdog rolls with grated cheese for an easy dinner that kids love!
  • – RECIPE NOTES –
Any meatball flavour works : beef, pork & veal, chicken too.
You specifically want a 'pasta bake' sauce which is creamier than a regular spaghetti/pasta sauce. But either will work if that's all you have.
This recipe is also great with chopped thin beef sausages!
We deliberately use ready made meatballs and sauces in this recipe to make this a FAST & EASY recipe. If you prefer to make your meatballs and sauce from scratch here is one you might prefer on a day you have more time (HERE)
You can increase or decrease the number of meatballs you use to suit your family's needs.

Quick and easy dinner after running around kids sports on a weekend. Hubby loved them. 1 year old inhaled one as well.

Quick and easy and extremely delicious. Halved this recipe to fit into the 1.5L cooker so a very cheap meal to make. Tastes even better the next day ???

  4. First time I’ve cooked Meatballs this way. I used a jar of Spinach and Ricotta Pasta bake sauce, threw in extra spinach at the end. Went down a treat, got two lots of leftovers. Thanks for the inspiration.
