Lamb Shanks with Gravy

Ingredients
 

  • 4 large lamb shanks ( or 6 small)
  • 2 roughly chopped onions
  • 1 small can of tomato soup
  • 2 cups of beef stock
  • Shake of gravy powder

Instructions
 

  • Brown shanks in a hot pan (optional)
  • Transfer to slow cooker
  • Add onions, soup and stock
  • Cook on low for 8 hours or until tender
  • Reduce cooking liquids on stove top and wisk in some gravy powder, serve with sides of your choice (veggies, pasta, salads, hot rolls)

  1. Hi, I’m making this dish today and needing some advice please. My shanks are in the slow cooker at the moment but are not fully covered with the liquid. Should they be?

  2. They are really good!
    I have also used a small lambroast with this.
    I tend to add cellary and mushroom and garlic. I only use one onion
    And it goes amazing with rice
    (I added cherry tomatoes once also nice)
    (I dont reduce liquid i find once adding gravy i do it about 10-30mins after serving it is fine)
