I have made this with sultanas and without and I have also done it with an extra banana and only two tbsps of honey! Every time was a success and a huge hit with everyone who tried it! Definitely recommend this recipe!
Was so looking forward to this cake. Followed the recipe exactly. Checked it after 3 hours on low as it was starting to smell like it was over cooking. The middle and top were still very undercooked. Another 30 mins and the top still isn’t cooked through but the base is like a brick. Really disappointed! The bit that was cooked was pretty uninspiring. Won’t be cooking it again.
Your result was the exact opposite of other feedback on this recipe – wonder why that was?
You slow cooker may cook hotter/not as hot as standard I guess?
Oh well …. lots more to try that may be more to your liking 🙂
I make this all the time! I generally don’t add the sultanas as I’m not a huge fan. We love this recipe as it has honey rather than sugar. It is a huge hit in my family & guests who have eaten it. Thank you to the person who submitted the recipe.
First time making a cake in the SC. A definite winner, turned out great!
No person ever sys what size cooker they use for all the beautiful items.
Actually LOTS do 🙂
And from our second book onwards every recipe lists the size cooker used
What does it mean about the tea towel? That bits got me a little worried… Sorry I’m new to slow cooker world lol thanks in advance – Tegan
Hi Tegan >> Tea Towel Trick
My first time cooking a cake in the slow cooker and was not disappointed. I used plain SR Flour as I didn’t have wholemeal and cooked it for just on 3 hours in my 3.5 litre slow cooker. Moist and delicious, will definitely be making this again.
