OMG this was amazing. I have had a lot of French Onion Steak over the years. But this is by far the best I have ever had. Will definitely be making this again

Just wondering if it is gravy powder or make up the gravy and add

Whole family loved this 😳 I just had it on low the entire time , and as I didn’t have a tomato I used tomato sauce instead. Oh a d forgot the gravy but it didn’t need it.
Served with potato bake, delicious 🤤

Delicious way to have a steak 👍🏼

Yes it could totally be all low 🙂 5hrs sounds plenty … and yes skip the browning for dump bag 🙂
I make this regularly we love it except I always cut the steak into small pieces. I have 2 questions if anybody could answer?
Is it necessary to have it on for an hour on high or could it be on maybe 5 hours low or something? I would love to be able to just turn it on and not have to worry about changing temp.
Also without searing the steak first do you think I cold make this in a dump bag?

Wow. What a nice flavour. The only issue I had was I think I overcooked it. The meat turned out a bit dry but it could have been two things. One, I didn’t use the meat mentioned in the recipe, I used silverside steak. Two, I really have to learn to adjust my cooking times because my new slow cooker cooks hotter, and I am finding I am overcooking everything. LOL. I just hate deviating from a recipe. I will learn, though.
I will definitely be making this again.

Made this tonight – loved it!
Kids all enjoyed it too 🙂
I left out the tomato as we aren’t big tomato fans
I also didn’t do the pre browning stage but it didn’t matter at all.
Thickened up the sauce in just a couple of minutes with the gravy and a good whisking.
I might slightly reduce the soup mix to reduce the saltiness next time 🙂
Enjoyed ours with a pile of fresh veg on the side.
If you’ve been thinking of trying this one – do it 🙂

@Mel – I only used one steak, but you could use as many as can fit in a single layer in your SC.

How much beef do you need for this?
I cooked this for my wife tonight while anticipating cooking my T bone on the bbq. Needless to say I regretted my t bone when I had a taste of my wife’s steak!!!!!
I found the Worcestershire worked with just a couple of teaspoons of gravox. Served it on the mash as a base with steamed broccoli. Cannot recommend enough.
I didn’t have the 4-5 hours to cook so I adjusted the cook times to 1.5 hrs high then 1.5 hrs low. Seemed to work if you only have 3 hrs, but probably best to stick to the recommended times for best results.
