Easy Osso Bucco

4 Veal Osso Bucco

3 Celery Sticks, roughly chopped

3 Carrots, roughly chopped

2 Tsp Garlic

2 Onions, diced

4 Bay leaves

400g Tinned Chopped/crushed tomatoes

375mL Beef stock

375ML White wine

65mL Tomato Paste

1/2 Sweet Potato diced, optional


1Combine all ingredients minus the Osso Bucco in your slow cooker and stir.

2Add Osso Bucco and spoon over sauce mix to cover.

3Put the lid on, and cook on low for 4-6 hours, until meat is falling from the bone,

4Serve with mashed potato.

5NOTE - If at the end, sauce needs thickening, remove meat from sauce mix, cover with foil. Pour sauce into a saucepan and simmer until it has reached your desired state on a medium heat, stirring regularly.

I made this the other day – and it was BEAUTIFUL. Love every bit. The only thing I would say is that it does need to thicken up. I did lid off for final 45 mins.- not enough.

Simple and delicious, a lovely rich flavour. ! I didn’t have any celery and used only 125ml of wine. I did need to thicken it a little at the end. Will definitely make this again!
I served it with mashed sweet potato, rather than cooking the sweet potato in the dish.
