Fast & easy meatballs in a yummy gravy that's sure to be a hit with the family and the budget. Easy enough for the children to help you make too!
4 hrs 20 mins
600g pork and veal mince (see notes)
1/2 cup fine breadcrumbs
Instant gravy to make 500ml total volume (see notes)
Non stick cooking spray
1Combine mince, egg and breadcrumbs with clean hands and roll into small golf ball sized balls
2Spray slow cooker bowl with non stick spray and place raw balls directly into cooker bowl (no need to pre cook/brown)
3Make up gravy as per instructions to 500ml capacity (see notes) and pour over meatballs
4Cook on low for 4hrs
1For this recipe I use Maggi Rich Gravy in the big tubs so I use 50g of gravy powder to 500ml cold water, whisk, then pour over meatballs.
2If using sachet gravy most make up to 250ml capacity of gravy so use 2 sachets and mix with cold water volume stated on packet
1This recipe could also be made in different versions than the pork/veal mix combination
2Chicken mince + chicken gravy
3Pork mince + roast pork gravy

So easy and yummy. I added Oregano and onion and garlic to the meat balls and made my own gravy. Everyone loved it:-)

Yummy & easy.
So quick to make, I just added a pinch of herbs to the meatballs & then cooked on high for 2 hours, because I was short on time.
Will definitely be making this one again!

My family really enjoyed this, as did I. Added sprinkles of season all salt and garlic salt to the mix.

Sometimes I cheat when making meatballs. Today I bought honey/garlic sausages, removed the skin, divided each sausage into 5 sections, and gently rolled them into balls, so 30 large meatballs. Then I do the gravy using 2 packs of gravy mix with 500 ml of water, a tad of soy sauce, and a tad of minced garlic. I often combine different packs of gravy mix. Today I did pork and brown gravy. I find that this is a very “dependable” recipe!!

Great recipe. Used pre-made meatballs from Woolworths and was amazing. Will have to source that gravy mix though, my gravy just didn’t quite cut it how I imagined. 😊

These were a-maze-balls . Even my very picky son loved them.
I added onion and garlic to the meatballs and I used 2 packs of the light brown gravy.
This will definitely be on the menu again.

This was really yummy! I made it with sausage mince (cheap & all I had in the freezer). At the end I had to make more gravy on the stove and add to the meatballs as our family of 5 like LOTS of gravy.

used this method to cook pre-made meatballs, they turned out great, will do again

I made this today in my baby 1.5L slow cooker, I halved the meatballs but added 1 sliced onion and kept the same amount of gravy. 1 hour before serving I added some sweet potato. It was absolutely delicious and will most certainly be on the menu again.

Could I use pre made meatballs (beef) for this too?

Hi Ken, on low as it says 🙂

Totally new to the ‘slow-cooking’ process. I see the time to cook is four hours, but at what temperature setting do you recommend?

Wow! Just wow! So simple but so tasty! All 3 of my fussy kids came back for seconds!

I haven’t tried to but I don’t see why not 🙂

Just wondering if leftovers are freezeable. Not sure how gravy would go if it was put in freezer.
These are super easy to make and taste great! They are on regular rotation here and the super fussy child loves them!

I used premade beef and lamb meatballs with Swedish meatball gravy mix. I sautéed some onion and mushrooms and added them about an hour before serving. I also mixed through 1/4 c cream (as per gravy instructions) and some baby spinach. Served over mashed potato. DELICIOUS!!!!

Here’s some other ways to thicken it further 🙂
How to thicken
January 18, 2018
This was awesome added vegies to the meatballs and my little man gobbled them down like no there was no tomorrow. Question though is the gravey meant to be thick because mine was super watery still after 4 hours?
January 14, 2018
No it doesn’t burn 🙂
It’s added cold at the start as per recipe
January 8, 2018
do you cook with gravy at the beginning. doesn’t the gravy burn if left in that long?
January 7, 2018
I always do single layer but so long as they are still covered they should be just fine
Just be sure not to stir until well sealed/firm towards end
January 3, 2018
I assume it is ok for the meatballs to stack on top of each other?

Love love love this dish!!! I have a 3.5L croc pot & used pre made meatballs from supermarket and it’s deeelish. My partner & I are converted to cooking meatballs in the SC now. I serve with mashed potatoes, corn cob & mixed vegies 🙂
