Diced Ox heart in a Tomato and Onion Gravy
Serving: 4
Ingredients
- 1 ox heart diced + cornflour for dusting
- 3 onions sliced
- 1 Tbs minced garlic
- 1 punnet grape tomatoes halved
- 4 Tbs “Maggi” gravy powder
- ½ cup Tomato juice
- ¾ cup water
- ½ Tbs Capsicum powder(I make myself) Totally optional
Instructions
- Mix the gravy powder with juice,minced garlic + water & capsicum powder(if using)
- Dice your ox heart into chunks(or get butcher to do it)~Place into a bag with a bit of cornflour & shake to coat meat
- In my Breville searing slow cooker I browned heart on low with onions(Totally optional but does enhance flavour)
- Now add the gravy mixture & fresh tomatoes & cook on low 4 hours adding thawed veggies after 3 hours
- If gravy needs thickening make up a paste mix of cornflour/water and add into mix stirring until thickened before serving
Notes
- Serve with mashed pumpkin or potato or a mix of both
- Or simply with a garlic bread to mop up gravy
