  1. After 10yrs of trying to perfect my corned beef I through that recipe out the window and will never look back after making this one THANK YOU

  2. This is absolutely delicious, and I don’t usually like silverside! Will be using this recipe all the time from now on.

  3. Am making this today. Am not expecting leftovers lol.
Did I mention that it’s going to be served over a bed of creamy garlic mashed spuds?
    Heaven on a plate!

Made this today and my only negative point is that the recipe should state to cover the meat with water as the listed ingredients are not enough. Cooked it as recipe stated and the exposed part was still hard after 7 hours, but the submerged half of the meat was tender and falling apart when I turned the meat over. Otherwise great ingredients and would have been a great meal if instructions were given properly (cos I am one to follow them when trying something new)!

  5. This was amazing. I added a bit more water, about a cup as I had a very large piece of meat. I also quartered my vege’s and fruit so it would fit in the pot. Not usually a corn beef fan but this recipe is great!

  6. Beautiful recipe. Definitely cover fully with water after vinegar & brown sugar added. I do a “full”
orange, apple & onion, cut in quarters. 4 bay leaves, 5 cloves (its OK if you dont
have all ingredients). I use a little of 2 litre Aldi Vitamin Orange juice if I
dont have Orange juice. Dont fuss too much as it will be nice whatever you
    use !!

  7. Delish! Cooked a 1.8kg piece for 6 hours on low. Melt in the mouth and beautiful flavor. Will do again for sure.

  8. Made this yesterday exactly as the recipe stated…except I added a whole apple and orange and omitted the cloves because I thought I had some and didn’t buy any…and found I had none.

I cooked it for maybe 7 hours on low – was close to 1.5kg – and it was, to put it simply: sublime. Everyone ate it! The same kids who a few years ago turned up their noses at slow-cooked corned beef and I had to give the left-overs to the dogs because it was too much for me to consume, even over a couple of days, those very same children ate it and loved it.

So, thank you for a wonderful addition to my list of autism-approved recipes!

  9. I have never been much fussed on corned beef but while shopping I found corned beef was on special so I thought I would give it a go. I am a corned beef convert after making this recipe twice now. The addition of a of an apple & orange also served up with the meat is a nice difference. The meat has been tender & absolutely superb.

  10. I used a version of this recipe – no orange, ON or apple juice a so didn’t have them, on low for 6 hours. I then used the liquid in a pot on the stove to cook potatoes and pumpkin.

I’ve made corned beef in the slow cooker several times, with mixed results. From now on I will use this recipe every time as the whole family loved it, thank you 🙂

  11. I never write reviews however just had to after making this tonight! I needed a change from my usual traditional recipe and this one delivered. So so good! It’ll be the way I make silverside from now on.

  12. Loved this recipe, we used the liquid to make a gravy and poured it over our mashed potatoes and veggies . Very scrummy!
