- 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into chunks
- sea salt + pepper (to taste)
- ½ cup of cornstarch

- ½ cup of apple cider vinegar

Looks yummy! I am a little confused as the picture looks to have sesame seeds in it? Do you just sprinkle those on at the end?
Thanks!
I would think so yes if you like to 🙂
Cooked this recipe. Very good. I think it could be given a twist with some pineapple added in. Perhaps take out the brown sugar and add in both pineapple juice and the juice from the can.
Very yummy scrummy. My family liked it alot. I think it would be good if the brown sugar were cut and replaced with chunk pineapple with juices included.
This is easy to make and so very yummy I added pineapple pieces, onion and red capsicum and served it with fried rice.. we will be having this again. Yum yum.
Oh my goodness..! This was amazing. My kids said it was lolly dinner ?? cannot believe how perfect it was. I also only cooked it for 2 hours as I was short of time and it was fine, Chicken was cooked.
A great easy tasty dish!! Love it!
My family absolutely love this. I add a few extra vegetables but the meal itself is always a winner and never anything left . If there is any left the teenage son doesn’t allow it to last the night. Thankyou for this recipe ?
Delicious! A very easy recipe to make 🙂
Made this and it was delish. Everyone enjoyed ?
Yummy this is absolutely delicious ?? Super simple recipe and super tasty. I added a can of pineapple pieces and the juice an hour before serving and it gave a lovely sweet taste to the end result. I also sprinkled some sesame seeds on top and served with white rice. Next time i will also add some chopped shallots. Very impressed with this one, thanks so much for sharing it with us Meg ?
Are you supposed to use the tea towel trick? I made this today and what a waste, so much liquid ? was looking forward all day to this
No otherwise it would be specified in recipe. Wondering why yours turned out different to everyone elses? Did you do the cornstarch and egg coat and pre cook the chicken? Everything exactly as recipe requested?
I made this today, with the only exception that I used plain white vinegar, as that was all I had. I cooked it for 3 hours on high. I thought it looked a look ‘plain’ at the end, so I threw in some frozen peas and carrots and served it to my husband over white rice. He thought it was good, so I will be generous and give it 5 stars!
Does the batter go soggy
Hi is this soy sauce sweet or salty please? Thanks
Salty. A recipe will always specify if it’s kecap manis (the sweet ‘soy’ kind of sauce). Soy sauce will always be the salty kind.
Made today. As others said I halved the sugar. Added carrots and small onion wedges at start. Capsicum an hour later and pineapple with juice an hour after that. Tasted great. As good as any takeaway.
Is it necessary to cook the chicken first or can you mix it with the cornstarch and eggs and chuck it straight in the slow cooker?
Made this today – added carrot at the beginning, and capsicum also about half way through. Cooked for 5 hours on low, chicken was quite crumbly (maybe I need to resist the temptation to stir – smelled so good!) Next time will half the sugar as was a bit sweet, and reduce cooking time to about 4 hours on low. But yummy!
Very tasty!! Beautiful flavour, but I might swap out the brown sugar for pineapple as others have said next time.
Cooked this up tonight but used pork.
I put my russell Hobbs good to go on sear for 30 minutes to do the first part and then changed to slow cook for 3 hrs on high, replaced the water with the juice from a can of pineapple and added pineapple, capsicum, carrot and onion served with fried rice.
