Serving: 6
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 4 hours
Total Time 4 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 thin beef sausages
  • 300ml reduced fat cooking cream (I used Nestle Carnation 'lite' cooking cream)
  • 1 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 2 tbsp. sweet chilli sauce
  • 1-2 cups water (see *notes in method)

Instructions

  • Cut sausages into 3rds and place in slow cooker.
  • I did not brown or pre cook them in any way - but you can if you really want to.
  • Combine cream, peanut butter, curry, sweet chili sauce and 1 cup water.
  • Pour over sausages and cook on LOW for approx. 4-5hrs.

Notes

  • I noticed that at approx half way point the sauce was reduced and thick, so at this point I added a second cup of water. However all slow cookers can vary in heat so if yours does not reduce you may not need the second cup of water. If in doubt add it, you can always thicken at the end )
  • This produced a thick, almost fluffy (for lack of a better word),satay sauce that was not spicy and was suitable for children and adults alike.

  1. Family favourite here! We added an extra teaspoon of curry powder as we found it extremely mild. Also works well with evaporated milk if you don’t have cooking cream on hand.

  2. This is a favorite we used evaporated milk. We all loved it even my 2 year old. There was none left over for the next day

  3. Thanks to the review above, I added more curry powder so it had a little more kick. What a lovely meal.
Can’t wait to cook this one again

  4. I’m making this one again later in the week. I bought some chicken satay sausages for it this time around for a little extra flavour. It’s a delicious recipe, cheap, easy and makes a lot 🙂
Very creamy and full of flavour.

  5. I used this recipe for chicken wings and was great. After reading comments and knowing we like spice I doubled the curry and sweet chili sauce. Because I was using chicken wings I didn’t add any of the water to allow for the juices of the chicken and it wasn’t needed. Used 2 kg of wings and had heaps of sauce which coated the wings perfectly. Cooked 4 hours low

  6. Loved how simple yet really tasty this was, I used chicken sausages.
I would use the sauce again with other meat options too. Chicken fillets or diced beef for sure.
(I also added a little bit extra curry powder)

  7. This was my first slow cooked meal. It was very yummy. All kids ate it too. Very simple and easy. Only took 4 and half hours on low which is great if its a little later in the day ?

  8. I love satay so was keen to try this. I substituted the evaporated milk for coconut cream and increased the amount of sweet chilli. Perfect!

  9. Absolutely delicious! Stoked I came across this recipe, it’s a new favourite in our house. 5 stars! ?? ????????

    Was so yummy and delicious
Would probably halve the sauce next time , only because I don’t usually have 12 sausages lol

  11. Absolutely loved it! I used a 400ml coconut cream instead and also added about 1/4 teaspoon turmeric and an onion. Served on rice and the family raved about it! Definitely will be a regular from here on in!!

  12. Oh my god this is delicious. I’ve always tried making satay from scratch but never nailed it. This is so easy & by far the best satay. I made a few changes like I cooked in a frypan like devilled sausages & only used 1/2 cup of water & like a 3rd of a jar of peanut butter instead plus pre cooked sausages half way & added onion & it turned out perfect. Glad i stumbled upon this recipe. Cheers

  13. I added more sweet chilli sauce to it and was 5 star approved by the husband and kids. Perfect. Thank you it’s delicious.

  14. My whole family gave this delicious recipe a tick of approval. Will definitely make this one again. The sauce is so creamy and has the perfect amount of spice for the kids as well. Thanks Paulene for another great recipe.

  15. This is a heavenly sauce. I added a few extras , cracked pepper, salt, minced garlic, hoisin sauce, and a dash of peanut oil. So so yummy. I didn’t need to add the second cup of water and it was thick and creamy.

  16. I made this last night but I used 1 1/2 chicken breast instead. It was delicious, so creamy and easy to make. Thanks again Pauline for another fantastic recipe. This will definitely be on repeat I’m my house.
