Ingredients

  • 3 large thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 small diced Onion
  • 3 rashers Bacon (fat removed optional)
  • 1 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Cooking Cream
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup Grated cheese

Instructions

  • Spray slow cooker bowl with non stick oil spray.
  • Layer 1/3 of potato slices in bottom of bowl.Add half of onion and half of bacon. Layer 1/3 of potato slices on top.Add remaining half of onion and bacon.Layer remaining potato.
  • In a bowl stir milk, cream, garlic and salt and pepper to combine. Pour over potatoes.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 2hrs then LOW for 2-3hrs depending on your cooker.(Auto function for 5hrs will achieve the same result)
  • Half an hour prior to serving top with grated cheese and cook until melted.
  • *Notes*- Every slow cooker is different. If you worry your potato bake is getting too dry you can add further milk/cream or even just milk. It will all still come together by the end.
  • This is the perfect sized potato bake for the 1.5L baby slow cookers
  • The extra sauce in picture was just something I added at the time for extra flavour - totally optional - some people like a squirt of mustard also

  1. This was delicious and lovely and creamy. I added 2 teaspoons of vegeta powder to the dish at the beginning and sprinkled the cheese with paprika at the end. I cooked in my 1.5litre and it could have gone a bit longer. Next time I’ll actually set it to cook approx 8 hrs. A really great side packed with flavour.

  2. I made this the other week for a family gathering. I did it without the bacon and it was sensational. Everyone loved it. Will definitely make again

  3. When I first seen people talking about this recipe, I thought surely it wouldn’t be better than the traditional way.. I’m now so so glad I tried this!! Absolutely delicious! I made a little extra sauce as I added one more potato and cooked for 5 hours (3high, 2low). Will never make potato bake any other way!! Thank you 🙂

  4. I cooked this for the first time today and i left out the bacon and cheese and i found it was lacking something to make it a bit more taster and i added a bit more minced garlic but it didn’t really help with to make it a bit more taster

  5. Has anyone made a double lot in 5litre slow cooker? If so how long and what setting thanks in advance ?
