Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 6 hours
Total Time 6 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken thigh fillets
  • 1 tub bulla cooking cream
  • 150g diced bacon
  • 1 chorizo
  • 2 chicken stock cubes
  • 100g baby spinach

Instructions

  • Put chicken, cream, stock cubes, bacon and chorizo in slow cooker
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours
  • Add in the baby spinach at the end
  • I served with rice

Notes

  • Also a great low carb option with alternate side servings
  • I sometimes leave the bacon and chorizo out at the start and cook it in a fry pan to make it crispy and add it to the slow cooker just before serving, either way works

  1. Second time I’m making this,we didn’t find it too salty although no need to add more salt, just some grinder black pepper.I also add one diced onion, some sliced button mushrooms and a little garlic

  2. First time making it, found it a little salty and a little bland. Will mix it up with some herbs and chilli chorizo or chilli flakes next time (but I do think everything needs chilli)

  3. Delicious. Whole family loved it. Added some minced garlic and chicken seasoning at the start. Used double smoked kransky as that’s what we had and a couple of teaspoons of chicken gravy powder to thicken.
Will be a regular in our house.

  4. Yum!! My very fussy son loved this.

I only used 1 stock cube after reading the other comments about it being salty and added garlic. Will definitely make this again, next time I will add onion and mushroom. I served it with broccoli for myself (low carb) and mash for my son, he asked if he could have it on pasta next time.

Made this today. Didn’t add chirozo. But put mushrooms and onion in. It is delicious. Eating it now.

  6. I made this tonight and it was delicious. I doubled the chicken and the bacon but kept everything else the same, including the cook time. I did use salt reduced stock and I was glad I did as I would have wanted it any saltier. May add some garlic and mushrooms next time as others have done

  7. It was lovely the only thing I did different was I used legs instead of thighs definitely one of our new favourites.

  8. What a delicious meal! We did change a few things, with:
5 good sized raw chicken breasts,
    2 chorizo diced and fried
a hefty stack of bacon diced and fried
    chicken stock and,
    thickened cream
Cooked on Auto and stirred after a couple of hours, then left for another 3 hours.
About 1.5 hours before serving I cut up and steamed a large broccoli, and tossed it through a frypan full of onion, garlic and butter, then put the whole tasty mix into the cream mixture. Left the lid half off to allow it to thicken a bit, and served with pasta.

OMG… so so tasty! The broccoli mostly dissolved and flavoured the cream, and the flavours were just so rich and delicious.

One family member thought the Chorizo was too strong, another very fussy eater thought there were too many things in the one dish, but all others thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’d recommend serving with Parmesan if you can. ??

  9. This is a regular on our menu. The teenage boys love it! Tonight in place of the chicken stock cubes, I added two teaspoons of chicken bone broth powder and one teaspoon of vegetable broth powder (both from nutra organics). I normally add pasta for the boys, but they didn’t want it tonight.
