900g fresh cherries, rinsed and pitted

25g butter

2 tbsp brown sugar

2 tbsp white sugar

1 tbsp corn flour


1Put all the ingredients into a 1.5L slow cooker.

2Stir gently to mix.

3Cook on High for 1 hour, then Low for 2 hours.

4Keep on boiling until the sauce becomes thick and gooey.


6Tip: No added water since cherries were rinsed and still wet.


8Serve Cherry Sauce with desserts. A traditional Danish Christmas dessert is "Ris a la mande" or creamy rice pudding with slivered almonds, topped with cherry sauce.
