Serving: 6
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 5 hours 10 minutes
Total Time 5 hours 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 16 small pork chipolata sausages cut in half (or 8 regular pork sausages cut into quarters)
  • 500g of small diced mixed vegetables (I used a bag of frozen veg)
  • 100g diced bacon
  • 400g can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup of raw macaroni pasta
  • 1.5 cups water (total)
  • 1 cup grated tasty
  • Parmesan cheese to serve

Instructions

  • Add vegetables to slow cooker
  • Add bacon and cut, raw sausages
  • Combine tomatoes, BBQ sauce, and just half a cup of water and pour over
  • Cook on low for 4.5hrs
  • Add the remaining 1 cup of water (hot) and raw pasta. The additional water will be absorbed by your pasta during cooking
  • Cook on low for an additional 40mins or until pasta is cooked to your liking.
  • Just keep an eye on it during this stage as if your cooker is hotter than others it may need extra water but just add 1/2 cup at a time if you think it's needed.
  • Stir through tasty cheese then serve
  • Top with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese for a complete one pot meal for the whole family

  1. Cooked this the other night. One of the simplest slow cooker recipes that I’ve made! I used fresh veg (diced carrot) initially – then added thawed frozen peas and finely chopped spinach when I added the pasta (to keep their colour and texture).
Simple flavours – was a hit with my husband and 3 year old! Will definitely make this again.
I did need an extra 1/2 cup of water towards the end. In future I would cook for 3.5 hours on low then add the pasta, as my slow cooker seems fairly hot.

  2. This recipe worked really well. Quick and easy to prep, it makes a good weekday dinner. I used diced carrots, capsicum, cauliflower, and celery as my vegetables and the family loved it. I’ll make this again.

  3. Yummy! I was a little skeptical about this one but man I was wrong. This was delicious. I used all the left over veggies from the fridge, just normal Aldi pork sausages and I forgot the cheese and it was delicious!

  4. I to was skeptical about this dish but this is now a goto recipe for me. My toddler likes it, I can pack it with vegies and I enjoy eating it.

  5. I didn’t have can tomato used half a jar of chunky pasta sauce
See how we go , grandkids are staying overnight fingers crossed they’ll eat it lol

Cooked this tonight. Was a hit with my 1 year old. Partner who wasnt hungry ate a whole bowl!
I didnt need to add the extra cup of water as there was plenty in there ?

  7. Tried this tonight, it was good but not 100% for my liking. Partner loved the sausages. I added about 1tsp of beef stock powder as I thought it need a little extra flavour.
Even though it wasnt for my liking I will remember it for when our little man starts eating slow cooker meals ??

  8. This recipe appears in the ‘Slow Cooker for Kids’ book, so Master Ten made it last night. It was a hit from the point of view of it’s simplicity and also it’s flavour. He was very proud of himself and we scored the dish 8/10, and he’s keen to make it again!

  9. great recipe, used ham instead of bacon as it had to be used, added extra half cup of pasta and added cheese after serving, as freezing the extra servings. Will definatly make again

I was searching the recipes looking for something that would appeal to my fussy daughter.

She loves pasta & sausages so I thought I would give this a try.

It was a hit she said “mmm this is so tasty, it’s unreal”

    I even had seconds.

  11. Hey. A butcher near me makes Beef, Cheese and Vegemite Sausages – which the kids (even me after saying “yuck” – they are so yum) would they suit this recipe? Thanks x

  12. Loved it! I added frozen spinach with the veg. I also added Garlic Salt; Pepper; chicken stock & crushed garlic to the sauce before pouring over. Yum.
Was meant to be a “kids” meal but hubby is currently on his second bowl… ?
Thank you! Will be my go to for the kids & hubby x

  13. Absolutely delicious! I used passat instead of crushed tomatoes and didn’t add the water (750ml bottle of passat) turned out perfectly!

  14. I made this last night. I tasted a spoon full of veggies and sauce just before I added the cheese . When I ate the meal I thought it was very “gluggy”. When I make it again I’ll leave out the cheese, I preferred the taste without it. I’ll probably also lightly brown the sausages for the texture.

  15. Absolutely loved this.
A nice & easy recipe, with little effort. Yay.
A huge hit with the teenage sons too, another big bonus.

  16. Paulene shared this on FB with just a photo of the ingredients. As I was scrolling I stopped and thought “I have all of that!” And threw it straight on! My family of 7 (hubby and kids ranging from 20 – 11 cleaned their plates. Such an easy dish and so yum! 20 year old said “Mum you can make that dish any time you like” ?

  17. Oh this was yummy! Even miss 6 ate without a fuss and that was a shock to us as shes normally very fussy! Will definitely make again.

  18. Delicious and easy
As a mum of 3, I’m always looking for dishes that are quick and easy…. this is definitely one of those.

The recipe doesn’t state when to put the veggies in so I added mine at the start with the bacon and sausages….
    Turned out perfect

  19. Made this Saturday night. Used 8 fat beef Sausages from Safeway’s . Very yummy. Had by itself. Having leftovers tonight with mashed potato

  20. I made this for the first time last night. I’m not usually a fan of sausages unless from Bunnings with onion in bread ? but I thoroughly enjoyed this.I followed the recipe except i used fresh carrots and added vegeta stock and also some Masterfoods Baharat spice mix and was ready in about 5 hours all up .Will definitely make again husband loved it .

  21. I made this tonight, was very tasty. Might substitute pork sausage for beef next time but otherwise was very simple to do and eat ??

  22. Great budget friendly meal. I used 6 beef sausages, homebrand vege and whole tinned tomatoes. I also added the sausages whole and before adding the pasta I blitz the vege and sauce because miss 4 “hates” vegetables but loves special sauces lol. Then I chopped up the sausages, added the pasta and extra water. Everyone loved it!

  23. Another fabulous yummy and easy meal! Hubby suggested next time adding an onion and some Worcestershire sauce, so will update when I do that. 5 stars ??

  24. Absolutely delicious. Next time I will add more sausages. I’m not a great fan of cooked tomato so I just added more bbq sauce and a dash of liquid smoke. Definitely adding this one to my recipe collection.

  25. Taste was great and was perfect before putting the pasta in.
Next time I’d brown the sausages as I wasn’t a fan of the boiled texture.
And I’d stop before adding the pasta as I felt the pasta and cheese ruined it for me. Will definitely do again and just serve it on rice or mashed potato

    Excellent and easy recipe!
I doubled and tripled some parts of this recipe to feed a large group.
    Thanks for a great recipe!

  27. Donelda Campbell

I’ve made this recipe a few times now and it’s delicious.
I halved the volume of BBQ sauce and added some chopped frozen spinach at the end with the pasta.
I’ve also substituted the sausage with premade chicken meatballs and it was amazing

    Very nice,will do again!
Forgot the cheese.Used the KMart 2.5ltr twin cooker.Only used 5 thin sausages cut into thirds. This cooker runs hot so at 3hrs on high added the pasta and just 3/4 cup of water along with 200 grms of frozen mixed veg.1 hour later…supurb!

  29. Granddaughters have dinner with us on Wednesday nights. Think I have been through all the sausage recipes, but this is definitely Number 1 favourite!

  30. This is absolutely my favourite go to for a Friday night when late home from sport or a Saturday night
The second night I turn the leftover into a pasta bake with some more pasta and extra cheese it’s awesome ?

  31. 5 stars
First time trying this recipe. Full of deliciousness and budget friendly. Hubby giving it a thumbs up ? 10/10.
NOTE: I added 1 teaspoon each dried thyme & oregano.
