Cheesy Chicken and Broccoli Pasta

A great way to use up leftover cooked chicken, or simply grab a hot chicken on the way home from work and enjoy a one-pot fuss-free recipe that cooks relatively ‘fast’ in your slow cooker ?

Serving: 5
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 2 hours 20 minutes
Total Time 2 hours 35 minutes
Servings 5

Ingredients

  • 1 x 400g can of condensed cream of chicken soup (no water added)
  • 300ml cooking cream
  • 1tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1T wholegrain seeded mustard
  • 1 hot cooked BBQ chicken, meat shredded from the bones
  • 1 x 500g bag of frozen broccoli florets (defrosted while the early steps cook)
  • 250g raw macaroni pasta shells
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 cups grated cheese

Instructions

  • Add soup, cream, pepper and mustard to 6L slow cooker
  • Cook on high for 45mins
  • Add chicken and cook on high for an additional 45mins
  • Add broccoli, pasta and milk and cook on high for an additional 45mins – or until pasta is cooked to your liking (if it needs extra time in your cooker it may need additional milk – just watch it doesn’t dry out)
  • Stir through grated cheese and leave for approx. 5mins to melt prior to serving
  • Note: Cooking cream is one that resists splitting when heated. If you only have regular thickened cream, stir through 1-2 tsp cornflour to it first to help prevent splitting.

  1. How would this go in the freezer? I’m making a heap of different meals for my daughter n need them to be freezable

  2. Such a simple and quick recipe to make, healthy and delicious.
I’ve cooked this for the first time tonight and I wish I hadn’t waited so long to try this.
Loving all these recipes, if you haven’t tried this one I highly recommend to put this on your menu

  3. Wow! Instant family favourite. This was easy to throw together, I prepped in the morning before work and the teen threw it together and followed the steps. It was yummy and there were calls for it on the monthly rotations!

Have made this 3 times and put into containers and froze is definitely my favourite and so tasty ?

  5. A quick and easy recipe that is perfect for cold winter nights. A real favourite in our house now. Freezes well and can stretch it out to 6 or 8 smaller serves, depending on how much chicken or broccoli you get in your packet. We have it with garlic bread/toast.
I make it as stated but leave out the pepper and mustard due to allergies.

  6. This is amazing, so tasty and so easy one pot meal. The first time I made it before we’d even finished the meal my son was asking me when I could make it again. We have now had it three times and it’s still a favourite, my son takes any leftovers to work (when there is some). Even my sensory son eats it all without any complaints. ?

  7. A new family favourite. Before we’d even finished eating the first batch I’d made my son was asking me when I could make it again. So quick, so easy one pot meal, full of flavour.

So yummy. I used raw chicken breast and added it in at step 1 and cooked it on low for three hours. I then shredded the chicken breast, turned the slow cooker on high and carried on from step 4. My fussy children loved it and even ate their vegetable’s. They asked for me to make it again.

Sounds delish, I have one question though, is there a reason the sauce is cooked for 45 mins before adding the chicken? Just wondering why the sauce and chicken aren’t added at the same time.

This is just oh my yummy!!
I host a games nights occasionally and normally just do a quick simple spaghetti bolognaise, but I wanted to try something different. This was a hit. I added peas and beans as well as the broccoli, and a friend who doesn’t eat peas ate the peas as it tastes so good. Will be on our rotation for games nights and family meals.

Another favourite in our house. I often buy a cooked chicken if running out of time & there is always plenty of left overs. So easy & so tasty.

This was a big win for my kids. Single Dad trying to give kids a healthy meal. I scored between 8.5-10 with my kids . Definitely a repeat meal. Thanks so much for the recipe! McJust

First time making this one pot wonder. Delicious said hubby & I had to agree. Hubby gave it a 9/10.
I only used 200g dried pasta. But found I needed to add 2 cups milk cause it dried out a bit. I also added 1 teaspoons dried thyme. If you haven’t tried it yet. You should. Full of deliciousness.
    Thanks ?
