Serving: 5
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 5 hours 30 minutes
Total Time 5 hours 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1.5kg Pork Scotch steaks, cubed (Use any cut of pork you prefer but make sure it's one with some fat and not super lean to keep the moist, end result of the dish)
  • 1 large red onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp minced Ginger
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp "salt reduced" soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup Hoi Sin sauce (I like Ayam brand)
  • Optional: 1 Tbsp cornflour + 1 Tbsp water to thicken

Instructions

  • Place diced pork and sliced onion in slow cooker
  • Combine all remaining ingredients (except cornflour and water)
  • Pour over pork and onion and stir to combine
  • Cook on low for 5hrs
  • To thicken sauce, mix cornflour and water, add, then allow to cook an additional 30mins to thicken
  • This flavour is mild enough for the whole family - not spicy 🙂

  1. A favourite in our house. So tasty ?. I vary ingredients each time, adding a bit chilli for some zing and a little honey to sweeten.

  2. A delicious dish! Easy to make, I served mine with rice and quick fried Chinese cabbage.
Next time I might add grated carrot.
