Do you think this would work with sausages. Trying to use what I have instead of going to the shops during lockdown.

Doesn’t get much easier! Delicious. I used gravy powder to thicken it .

A little bit of something different also to try making braising steak with oxtail soup, as kids it was my mum’s way of getting everybody to try it. You can still add all the vegetables too. It is simply delicious.

You could do cubed or whole 🙂

Do you cut the meat into cubes?

I made this a few days ago with the rump steak and we all loved it even the fussy 10yr old. Today I made it with bolar blade beef 1.5kg and I doubled the recipe again but I accidentally added 4 tablespoons of beef stock instead of 4tsp. Wooops BUT it was absolutely amazing. I did baste it every two hours and I turned it twice as it was looming abit dry but it wasn’t just me. The family loved this even more. Even the fussy kid❤️❤️❤️ I even got away with woolies frozen winter Vegetables as I forgot to prep my veggies. This is a winner again. I love this site!!!

I did this with 1.3kg of rump steak and it was amazing. I doubled the rest of the recipe so it didn’t go dry as it wasn’t fully coated with it and it was sooo tasty. I didn’t bother with the cornflour. Yum yum. Our fussy 10yr old even had some. ❤️❤️❤️

Absolutely delicious will certainly make again. So simple too. Thickened with Maggi Gravy mix and served on a bed of mashed potatoes with other veg on the side. 😋

Made this with angus/bramer gravy beef…really lovely…melt in the mouth

If by better you mean a leaner cut of meat – the results are not as good. IT will give a dry less tasty result if it’s too lean

I used the wrong meat therefore it was very woody, otherwise it was great

Just made this tonight. Awesome. Better than other other cooking methods. I cubed the meat (used 500 gms) and quartered the onions. Also added roast meat gravy powder as a thickener. This recipe is perfect for my 1.5 litre cauldron.

another great meat for this would be cross-cut blade. It’d dearer, but the bit that looks like a sinew running down the middle goes jellified when cooked and it makes a brilliant braised ot stewed meat meal. I use it all the time, it’s actually off the outside of the shoulder blade, near to where bolar roast comes from

Agree with the other comments to put gravy powder in at the end. Just brings all the flavours together!

Found that it cooked quite quickly in my cooker and was very liquidy at the end, had to transfer it to a pot with alot of cornflour to get it to thicken! Ended up adding some beef gravy mix and paprkia to add more flavour. Will cook again but will change the ingredients up some more 😊

This is the best for flavour and tenderness. I add mushies in the last 45mins then enjoy leftovers for the next 2 days. So simple!!

Beautiful! Definitely a favourite and only made it once! Will be a regular meal at our house! Might even put it in pies!

Sorry I’ve only found this msg now … I think it would have been fine 🙂 What did you think?

Loved this, the only thing I changed was thicken with some gravox as I had no cornflour. Turned out fantastic.

I was a little unsure with this as I can’t stand onion and I felt it asked for a lot of it, I still went ahead and tried it. I am so glad I did hubby had seconds my kids loved it and I am really surprised I did as well. A huge thumbs up this is definitely a recipe I will cook again.
