White Wine and Cheese Damper

Beautifully flavoured slow cooker bread

Ingredients
 

  • 3 cups SR Flour,
  • 1 1/3 cups Sauvignon Blanc,
  • 3/4 cup grated cheese,
  • 1/2 teaspoon yeast.

Instructions
 

  • Line SC bowl with baking paper, put dough in and dust with flour.
  • Tea towel under lid.
  • Cook 2 hrs on high.
  • A few minutes in the oven to brown.
  • Serve hot and buttered.

  1. O mG, best bread I have ever cooked, keep it on the moist side and put lots of shredded cheese on the dough outside. Well played, you. Even maybe a little Hoyts Italian seasoning sprinkled on the cheese up top.

  2. Christine, I suppose you could use some other type of liquid but then it wouldn’t be called White wine and cheese damper lol. You could try milk or water or maybe tomato juice. ?
    Chris, I just put the yeast in the flour, added the wine then needed it. It’s a really easy damper to make.

  3. This was delicious & exceeded expectations! I used a mix of Colby, mozzarella & chilli cheese. I followed the posted instructions and it turned out perfectly. I served it with loads of butter and caramelised onion relish.

    Did you just mix all ingredients together then need the dough then leave to prove before placing in slow cooker
