Serving: 4
Prep Time 1 hour 30 minutes
Cook Time 6 hours 15 minutes
Total Time 7 hours 45 minutes

Ingredients

Dry spice rub

  • 7 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons cracked black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons celery salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin

BBQ Sauce

  • 2 Cups Passata sauce
  • 1/2 a red onion finely diced
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoons Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne
  • This will easily do 3 racks of ribs

Instructions

  • For Dry spice rub mix all ingredients together in a bowl until well combined store in air tight container or snap lock bag until needed
  • For BBQ Sauce, combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to the boil then lower to a simmer and simmer until thickened and slightly reduced, pour into a bowl or glass jar (I pour it back into the passata jar) allow to cool before storing in fridge until needed (I make up both the dry rub and sauce the night before)
  • To make ribs, rub all over with dry spice rub and place in your slow cooker, Cooking on high for 2 hours and 4 hours on low, when they are cooked remove from slow cook to a roasting tray and pour over your BBQ Sauce, use as little or as much as you like and place in a 200 degree oven for 15 minutes or until the sauce has gone sticky
  • Serve with your choice of sides but we like to have potato bake and corn on the cob
