Potato Bake

A cream free potato bake recipe creation using the fridge and pantry staples. The result was a hit!

Ingredients
 

  • 6 potatoes peeled and sliced into 1 cm
  • 1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup or you can use condensed cream of chicken
  • 1/2 tin of milk
  • 1/2 tin of water
  • 1 packet of French onion soup mix
  • 300g diced bacon
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese

Instructions
 

  • Slice potatoes into 1 cm thick slices and spread 1 layer over the bottom of the slow.
  • In a separate bowl mix cream of mushroom soup, milk and water to combine, then add French onion soup mix and stir together.
  • Pour over part of the mixture, then add the rest of the layers of potato and liquid mix each at a time until complete
  • Cover with diced bacon and cheese.
  • Cook on low for 5 hours with tea towel under the lid.

    Delicious.
    Definitely will make this again.
    I had all of the ingredients at home on hand. I especially liked that the recipe didn’t require cream.

    Quite tasty and good alternative when out of cream.
    I added layer of sweet potato in middle but found it a bit too liquidy in the end.
    I’d still make again trying with more potato.
