Serving: 6
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 5 hours
Total Time 5 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2kg chicken drumsticks
  • 1/4 cup low salt soy sauce
  • 1 cup tomato sauce

Instructions

  • Add chicken to slow cooker
  • Combine sauces and pour over chicken
  • Cook on low for 5hrs
  • — Notes
  • My Aunty Muriel always used this sauce mix to baste whole chickens with for many years, so now the taste takes me right back to childhood memories 🙂
  • Today I decided to slow cook it instead with drumsticks but you could also use chicken fillets or wings (reduce time to 3-4hrs depending on your slow cooker)
  • If you wish to avoid the liquid that builds up with slow cooking you could also use the tea towel trick (if you will be home) or without it as I did today 🙂

  1. Tried this today!!! Loved how only 3 ingredients, so easily yet tasted so good!! I used 3 large “maryland” cuts which fell apart once cooked, served with a creamy mash (cooked in 1.5lt slow cooker) with side vege!! Kids enjoyed this one!! Will add to my make again list ? thank you for sharing recipe!!!

  2. OMG what a brilliant little recipe you have shared with us Paulene ? Really quick prep and minimal ingredients required to make this and the taste is out of this world ??? Only change I made was adding 1 TBS each of crushed garlic and onion flakes and chicken thigh fillets. Cooked on low for 4hrs, stirred 2hrs into cooking time and thought it looked too saucy so popped a tea towel under the lid for the final 2 hrs. Biggest mistake ever…I lost too much of the gorgeous sauce doing this!! We served with rice. Will try with a whole chook next and won’t use a tea towel ? Love this recipe Paulene, it’s a 10 out of 10 from us ??

So easy and amazing flavour! I used drumsticks and added a teaspoon of minced garlic and some cracked pepper to the sauce. Will make again for sure.

  4. Grandkid arriving today.
I was out shopping and spotted drumsticks on sale.

Walked in the door at home , washed hands and within 3 minutes had this recipe cooking.

It is so tasty and easy .
A great recipe at this busy time of year.

  5. Made this for hubby who has been unwell went down a treat. Will try adding some honey next time I cook this. Thanks for another great recipe.

  6. 5 stars
Tried this recipe the other day, didn’t have enough tomato sauce so I substituted with bbq.
Left it in for about 9 hours on low while we were out for the day and when we came back I took the meat off the bone (fell off) and had it with rice. Delicious, will be doing again
