Total Time 6 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4-6 Lamb Chops (or you can use lamb shanks, roast, diced or any cut of lamb)
  • 1 x 420g can Campbell's Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (no water added)
  • 1 x 40g Packet French Onion Soup Mix (dry)
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Worcestireshire Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Mint Sauce or Mint Jelly
  • 1 Onion diced

Instructions

  • Place lamb in slow cooker bowl
  • Add onion
  • Combine all other ingredients and pour over chops
  • Cook on low for 6hrs approximately or up to 8hrs for a large lamb roast
  • *NOTE*
  • This does NOT taste like mushroom.
  • Even seasoned mushroom haters have been fed this without knowing and not one has detected the mushroom yet!
  • The mint is the mildest hint of flavour but if you really, really don't like it then just leave it out, it won't matter.
  • This recipe can be used with lamb chops, lamb steaks, diced lamb, lamb shanks, roast lamb ... even with beef, sausages or chicken! It goes with EVERYTHING 🙂

  1. Most delicious and mouth watering lamb dish i have ever made. I mixed it up a little and added fresh sliced mushrooms and a little of rich gravy powder towards the end to thicken. Will definitely be making this again very soon 🙂

      1. Always a great option. As a real budget friendly option, works great with lamb offcuts that often have plenty of meat still on them. I add extra mushrooms as we love them. Served over mash and some fresh steamed greens such as ? makes the meal.

  2. I got the Slow Cooker for Families book for Christmas and saw that the Lamb Obsession recipe was there. Having noticed on the Facebook page that people raved about this recipe I thought I’d give it a go tonight. On the first bite my husband said ‘Oh yum.’ We can see what everyone was talking about now. We’ll definitely be making this one again. And my husband cleaned up the leftover sauce with a spoon straight out of the slow cooker insert.

  3. I’m just so confused. With all the fuss I can’t say there was anything that exciting about this. Why mushroom soup, why the French onion soup mix, why the sauces… Just tasted like any old gravy and lamb.

    1. I guess the fuss as you call it is because sooooooo many people love this dish so talk every day about how much they love it on our group 🙂
Lucky for you there are 2114 other recipes you can choose from though that more be more to your taste lol
      Enjoy 🙂

  4. Just gorgeous. Everyone loved, even my fussy eldest child!
A quick question though – can I cook it on high, and if so how long for please?

  5. Love this dish! My husband ate his without taking a breath ?.
Will be a regular in our house now.
I used diced lamb & it was so tender & juicy. Such a quick & easy recipe too.

  6. We make this dish on a regular basis – usually once a fortnight. We both love it and it’s super easy to make. Cheap too! You can buy the lamb when it’s on special and freeze it for when you want Lamb Obsession. 10/10 dish.

This has got to be one of our favs it’s delicious, would it be ok to seal the chopped meat and still give 6hrs low? I’ve always put meat in raw before. Thanks

    1. I find obsession loves and tolerates the long cooking time regardless with lamb but if you wanted it stopped earlier I would guess more like 4hrs would do it if it’s diced lamb? 🙂 But you can’t really overcook it so 6hrs still won’t be a problem if that works for you 🙂

  8. First meal on slow cooker ever

I have a small Russell Hobbs slow cooker that fits 8 chops will it cook in 4hrs on high?lol hope so ?

  9. My non-lamb loving kids absolutely love this!!! Such an easy yet delicious recipe. I usually use lamb forequarter chops, trim the fat, chuck it in and go to work. Definitely a regular in our house

  10. I’m wanting to make this tonight and add veg (fresh mushrooms and carrots). Do you recommend I out it on top of the meat or under?

  11. Tried this for the first time tonight and we all loved it clean plates all round I then told my partner I had used mushroom soup and he could not believe it I will definitely be doing this again and soon 🙂 x

  12. Didn’t hate it but won’t make again. Was super easy and lamb was cooked well but I didn’t enjoy it and there is no way my kids would eat it.

  13. Made this last night for the first time, it was absolutely beautiful, the whole household loved it, it will be a regular on our dinner menu. Thanks to Paulene for coming up with this creation and sharing it with us.

  14. This recipe is awesome. I always add a full jar of mint and at least 4 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. Love the flavours. I make shepherds pies the next day with the leftovers……yum

  15. Lamb shanks defrosting in fridge & planning for Friday night dinner with added vegetables (carrots & mushrooms). Hope this works as it be first time using my sc also. Sounds yummy. Will keep you posted

  16. Im the kind of person that eats with my eyes, and looked at this and didn’t think much of it….after everyone going on and on about it i thought i would finally give it a try….and the results did not disappoint.
I didnt have any french onion soup mix so used salt, pepper, sugar and beef stock….1 cube. and it was amazing!!!! My family all loved it. Will be making again.

  17. I thought this was amazing. So easy and delicious! I don’t eat mushrooms, but you can’t taste any at all. Will be a regular in our household!

  18. Has anyone done this with pork forequarter chops and subbed the mint sauce with some applesauce for example?

  19. I made this for the first time and it’s amazing my daugter is fussy and loved it and cheap to make is a bonus

  20. I’m really wanting to give this a go.
Can I add corrots to it? If so should I put the carrots in from the start or add them say half way through? Also if I added carrots would I need to add extra fluid like water or stock?cheers

    1. I personally don’t add my veg in with it due to the oily nature of lamb but I know plenty of others do so by all means if you want to – go for it 🙂
You won’t need to add anything extra though for fluids etc
I’d add them from the start

  21. Made this for the first time tonight (have only just started using my slowcooker) it was amazing had it on high for 4 hrs and added carrots and beans, recommend it to everyone ?

  22. Sharni Krygger

Absolutely amazing. I used BBQ Lamb Chops which fell apart and there was a lot of bone next time I will try a different cut but the taste was fantastic. Loved it!

  23. Melissa Azzopardi

Absolutely delicious! I didn’t put any mint sauce just because I didn’t have any. Still tastes amazing. This will become a regular dish in our household! Will try with veggies in the slow cooker too next time.

  24. Melissa Gillespie

Everyone in our house loves this one, even though there are things in it that each of us do not like. I don’t like lamb, my daughter doesn’t like mushroom and my husband doesn’t like french onion soup. It’s still an absolute winner in our house – even better as leftovers the next day (not that there are very many leftovers!). Yum!

  25. This is amazing the lamb was just so tender even my 7 month old loved this she just kept opening her mouth for more ??

  26. Made this one the other night and was really tasty. I think next time though I’d use diced lamb instead of lamb chops just to avoid bones. Definitely add it to your to make list 🙂

  27. Cooked this tonight, using a lamb leg. Absolutely amazing. Hubby said it was his best meal this year. He didn’t leave any leftovers.

  28. Leeanne Henderson

have made it numerous times using lamb and beef and chicken delicious each time
I do add garlic and tin of vegetable

  29. Amanda Armstrong

To make this a ‘dump meal’, can you put the can of mushroom soup/french onion soup/etc in the zip lock bag and freeze or would you add these ingredients at the time of cooking?
    Thank you!

  30. Made this for tea on Wednesday night. Absolutely Beautiful. Husband loved it have to do it again. He also wants me to do a beef one.

  31. Oh my god, what more can i say. This is absolutely delicious and my fussy 7yr old loved, loved, loved it. Thank you to the creative people that come up with these recipes, makes my cooking time so much easier.

  32. Hi All.
I have a quick question (making this meal today). I usually don’t go for really salty dishes… oh I eat them, but then I suffer from thirst for the rest of the night. The worcest. sauce, tinned soup and French onion all have a good dose of salt in them. Has anyone used salt reduced tinned soup in the recipe? Has anyone found the meal over-salty?

  33. I made this last night using lamb rump steak, trimmed of all fat. OMG! It was unbelievable! The sauce was nice and thick and no fat. My friend who absolutely hates mint didn’t even know that was an ingredient. If I was served this in a restaurant I would ask to meet the chef lol. Delicious

  34. Hi my daughter sent me this link, and I love all your recipes, just checking, I only have a cheep slow cooker from Kmart, like $40.00 the lid just sits on top, or do I need to by a proper pressure cooker, or more expensive slow cooker.

  35. OMG it was absolutely gorgeous, my husband is still slapping up the sauce with bread as I’m writing this, I have 3 kids who come to dinner at least once a week, and I will definitely be making this for them, they love slow cooked hearty meals with mash and vege, thank you again. ?

  36. A new family favourite. We didn’t add the mint jelly as we didn’t have any. Have also tried with beef and just as delicious. Little Mister 4 licked his plate clean…no fussy eater on this night. Thank you, thank you, thank you

  37. I hate mushies, hubby loves them. Cooked this up and it was a winner, not mushroomy at all. In the to cook again list ?.

  38. The whole family loved this! I used chops but am going to try with shanks as chops a bit fiddly to eat with it. Tip: need some nice fresh bread and butter to sop up the leftover sauce. Delicious ! doesn’t taste like mushroom.

  39. Had this for dinner tonight and it was AMAZING! I would definitely do it again. Only thing i would change is the type of lamb. I used the forequarter chops. Next time i think ill just use lamb without a bone in it 🙂 lol

  40. A-MAZ-ING!!!! First time I made this was with forequarter chops. I should have trimmed the fat as I found that it was pretty fatty on parts. A lamb shoulder roll is in the cooker today and next week I’m doing lamb shanks.

I think it would be beautiful with chicken too

  41. Belinda Walker

Made this for the first time last night omg yummo ? and then put the remaining sauce in zip lock bags and put in the freezer for my next casserole base..

  42. I made this and the lamb was beautifully fall apart, melt in your mouth. The sauce was a good consistency. There was no mushroom flavour (although I like mushrooms, so that would not have been a problem). BUT it was insanely salty. Ridiculously so. I think the problem was a can of soup concentrate with nothing to water it down AND a packet of dry soup mix with nothing to water it down. The flavour had potential but the over-saltyness was really really really unpalatable.
Not sure what the solution is. I followed the recipe to a T.

  43. Very yummy! Have cooked this using Lamb Shanks, Lamb Roast, and Lamb Shoulder Chops, and every time the meat is so tender, and delicious!

  44. Carley-Jean Fuller

    Absolutely love this recipe.
My “Picky” daughter and sister asked for seconds. Definately cooking this again.

  45. It tastes very delicious, I had not had mint sauce before but it tastes very nice with the lamb. 🙂 10/10 from me.

  46. I wish I could edit my earlier review. This is great. I have no idea what I did wrong the first time round but I have made it twice since then and both those times it was wonderful.

  47. I have made this a few times using the mini lamb roasts. I leave out the mint jelly and only use half a packet of the french onion soup as found it was too strong and salty, but otherwise ITS A WINNER in my house.

  48. Had on high for the first half hour then turned down to low last 10-15 mins put up to high while the potatoes boiled and it had thickened up nicely
    Meat fell of the bone
Kids 5 and 15 months enjoyed it
Me myself thought it was just an average meal nothing spectacular like everyone is saying
Will be a once in a blue moon type of meal in this household

  49. Made this tonight with a lamb shoulder, low for 7 hours, sauce was oily at first but soaked up the oil with bread and thickened the sauce with some cornflour. Definitely a winner at my house, husband requested it again and fussy children loved it

  50. I made this for the first time last night and OMG it is the bomb I was walking around with the slow cooker bowl and bread getting out the last of the gravy ( I didn’t want to waste any lolol ) I did how ever add some mushrooms finely sliced as well and they added even more flavour awesome recipe would and will recommend it anybody

  51. I’m going to try this next week changing a few things around as I’m allergic to mushrooms ….will use diced lamb and maybe low salt either tomato or cream of chicken soup ,, …..if using tomato will add heaps of fresh basil … chicken not sure yet ….sounds yummmm

  52. Rita Cotton Sharples

Made this today for the first time using lamb shanks ,also was first time using a tin of soup in a recipe ,we loved it .It was so easy ,I will defiantly make it again.Did this to the letter but I will add some carrots and potatoes next time to get that fab flavour into them..Thankyou

  53. This is our favourite! I always scoop off the oil and thicken with cornflour at the end . In the last two hours I chop up bacon and add it and it makes it even better! Sometimes I’ll add mushrooms too. It’s so saucy so I can easily cook 8 chops without doubling the sauce . The best thing about this recipe is I take the bones out and put the leftovers in the fridge . The next day I make Jaffles with it and they’re the best thing I’ve ever tasted! Everyone drools over them.

  54. First attempt at this dish, used 6 lamb leg chops and everything ad per recipe. Meat is literally falling of the bone and the taste of the gravy is awesome. Definitely one I’m going to be doing again.

  55. This dish is absolutely sensational and so very simple ? Crowd pleaser with my family, kids wanted seconds!!! Definatley be making it more often.

  56. This was amazing! My 3 girls loved it, even my fussy toddler who won’t eat much at all! Taste was great, very surprised you could not taste mushroom or mint sauce as no one in our house is very keen on either. Will be making this again for sure!!!!

  57. How long would you cook it for if using chicken?
Going to try but am worried about the comments re: saltiness as we don’t eat much salt at all.
    Thanks?

    1. Hi Leesa

If using chicken drop the cooking time down more like 4hrs
You can also use salt reduced french onion soup (and the mushroom if you can find that salt reduced too)
Another tip if towards the end you still feel it’s too salty you can place a pealed raw potato in the pot for the last hour to absorb salt then discard it before serving. Don’t judge the salt taste by the start but by closer to the end 🙂

  58. This is so far the greatest thing to come out of my slow cooker! Now I buy lamb whenever it is on special so I can make this. 12 year old and fussy toddler both love it! Thank you for a great recipe 🙂

  59. We just love this recipe. Every time I buy lamb chops my husband always asks me to make this. Can I please ask can you do this with beef omitting the mint sauce.

  60. Georgie Genders

I am honestly the fussiest eater you will ever meet. After 6+ months of being on the slow cooker central facebook page i finally decided to give this recipe a go. Can easily say it’s my absolute favourite meal now. So simple and delicious! Doesn’t take like mushrooms at all, you would be silly not to try this recipe!

  61. Tracey Thorpe

    So simple…simply delicious.
Only thing I changed in the recipe was the meat. Used topside roast as hubby isn’t a fan of lamb. And he’s a HUGE lover of gravies/sauces and this recipe offers heaps.
The hint of mint was my personal favourite part.
Will become a regular meal in this house. ?

  62. Hi There, I’d like to try this tomorrow and one question – do you brown the lamb before or is it just raw when added with everything else? Thanks

  63. I loveeee this. My partner doesn’t though so it sucks, I would eat this once a week if I could (and if lamb wasn’t so expensive in Australia ?)

    1. It’s great with sausages too for a cheaper alternative 🙂 I’ve even done it with mince
I’m Australian and I often wait until the lamb forequarter chops come on special and do it with them 🙂
Or neck chops from butcher are often well priced too

  64. Very nice. I did this with good loin chops and stuck exactly to recipe. Initially I thought I’d overdone the mint sauce based on aroma and an early sneaky taste test, but I had nothing to worry about. I served with oven roasted potato, carrot and puimkin and the sauce makes the perfect gravy for those too. Will definitely do it again and definitely recommend it for others.

  65. Can’t wait for tea tonight, trying this for the first time will be interesting to see if the daughter can taste the mushroom soup.
I also used an extra tbsp of mint sauce.

  66. This dish would be number 4 in my first attempts with the slow cooker. It was so yummy! Hubby claimed the left overs by removing the bones from the lamb chops and dividing the leftovers in half, adding it to potato bake for 2 days of lunches at work. He is not a mushroom eater and all that was left in his bowl were bones! Thank you 🙂

  67. Jessica Hansen

I was a bit hesitant making this as was unsure how it would taste from the cream of mushroom soup but it was fantastic not an over powering mushroom taste at all a nice creamy sauce and soft lamb.

  68. Used sausages instead of lamb. Was quite salty compared to our usual food but still very very nice. Added broccoli & carrots towards to end and served with mash

  69. This is our family favourite dish 😀 i do modify it a little, 45mins – 1hour before serving i add gravy. It thickens it up and gives abit more flavour!! Hubby loves it on bread rolls 🙂 a must try

  70. Love this recipe have made it with sausages as well delicious.
But today I realised that I didn’t have any mushroom soup and it’s an hour trip for me to the shops so I used a can of asparagus soup instead ….still yummy

  71. I’m looking forward to trying this recipe tomorrow. Should I trim some fat off my lamb chops (8 mid loin chops)?

  72. Very, very salty.
Any suggestions on how to adjust the recipe?
Flavours were nice but the saltiness was overwhelming 🙁

  73. Perfect meal even for the fussiest! Kids are it with ZERO complaints (that’s unheard of here!) Cooks beautiful, tender, melt-in-your-mouth, fall-off-the-bone meat! Used forequarter chops.

  74. This was absolutely delicious, will be making many times in our house hold. Thank you for such a great recipe.

  75. Excellent. I made it from the freezer dump bag and it worked great. Hubby really enjoyed it too but said he wouldn’t like it any sweeter.

  76. Made this last week and OMG it is so good. The meat fell off the lamb leg and melted in your mouth. Also it doesn’t taste like mushrooms or really taste the mint flavour but the sauce is so good too. I chucked in a few vegetables as well along the way. This recipe has been added to my regular meals.

  77. Absolutely simple and delicious.. be sure to trim excess fat off lamb chops. A new family favourite ?

  78. Cooked this for the first time yesterday and it will definitely be added as a regular but I’m now excited to try this with other meats. ? sooo easy

  79. Gabriella Byrne

This was delicious!! Made it with lamb steaks as I didn’t have any chops 🙂 added garlic and beef stock powder (not sure on quantities, just started dumping everything in ?)
Master 1.5 made happy grunts while literally shoving it into his mouth and then licked his plate clean.
I couldn’t get enough of the sauce and went back for 4ths so I could eat it with my potatoes.
Next time will probably use mushrooms and a cream based sauce instead of the condensed mushroom sauce as I did find it a little bit too sweet, and will add some cracked pepper while it cooks!

  80. The rumours are true…
    This dish is AWESOME???
I will say this is the best thing I’ve made in my slow cooker so far!
Melt in your mouth lamb and such a good flavour!

We love mushrooms in our house but I wanted to see if it was detectable to hubby…nope!
He was surprised when I told him the ingredients (so, as others have said – great for mushroom haters too)

I’ll definitely be making this again (with potatoes) and doubling recipe each time though as there was not enough leftovers ??

*My changes: I used diced lamb, 3 potatoes (cut into 3cm cubes) & reduced salt French onion soup mix

  81. Well what can I say. There was so much hype about this one so I had high expectations. So I made it and it exceeded my expectations. It was delicious. My husband almost licked the plate clean. I use diced lamb and now about half an hour before it finishes I chuck some asparagus on the top. It’s just divine. A regular on the menu now.

  82. Absolutely loved this. Was the first time I’ve tried making it. Used lamb forequarter chops and instead of the can of condensed mushroom soup used Coles brand creamy mushroom simmer sauce. Worked a treat. Master 7 gave it a thumbs up. Will be trying again but with diced beef.

  83. Alison Miller

First time I’ve tried making this one. I used lamb forequarter chops and instead of a tin of condensed mushroom soup used a jar of Coles Creamy Mushroom summer sauce. Was sooo good that next time I’m going to use diced beef. Master 7 gave it a thumbs up

  84. I can’t believe I’ve taken so long to cook this recipe in my slow cooker. It was so quick and easy to prepare and the end result was absolutely delicious! This will become a regular in my household, especially in the winter months when you want that yummy comfort food.

  85. Deborah Clarke

If I could give this extra stars I would. This is delicious. My entire family loved it from the picky I’m not eating that child to the will eat anything child. Suited them all ( I have 6, including the husband)
    Yum yum yum

  86. Yum, yum, yum. This was a hit! What little leftovers we had got demolished for breakfast. Had to thicken the sauce a little at the end. Will definitely make again. DIVINE!!

  87. Yesterday I made this recipe but used pork forequarter cutlets instead of lamb and I left the mint out (I always leave the mint out anyway).

The verdict: I loved it. Soooo much less fat in the dish to contend with. The little bit of fat that there was, was easy to scoop off. The kids had different views. My daughter said it tasted weird and my son thought it tasted the same as lamb obsession.

I will make it again with pork. The biggest plus is the reduced fat content of the dish.

  88. I’ve made this twice in the last 10days… first time with lamb and added vege which I cooked as per direction’s. The second time was with Mutton and added potatoes, parsnip, carrot and garlic which I cooked on High for 4hrs. The mutton just fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. The flavour of the sauce was divine! Will be keeping the ingredients for the sauce stocked from now on and am looking forward to trying Goat Obsession and maybe even Pork Obsession in the future…

  89. Best meal ever! So easy, SO CHEAP!
I used chicken drumsticks instead of lamb. Added mushrooms and spinach. Then thickened cream for the last hour so it was beautiful and creamy.

  90. It was absolutely delicious ?
I used diced gravey beef instead of lamb & left out the mint sauce..

  91. Rhonda Fennell

I have 4 lamb forequarter chops and don’t have enough time to cook for 6 – 7 hrs on low. Can I cook it on HIGH for 4 hrs ??

  92. Bridgette Morgan

This is my absolute favourite slow cooker dish! So cheap, easy and full of flavour…. yum!! I used lamb shanks and the meat just fell off the bone. Highly recommended ?

  93. Wow!! Just made this for dinner and it was amazing! I’d heard all the reviews and I was a doubter….I have always hated mushrooms (and so does the 9 year old) but you couldn’t taste them at all! All 4 boys and my husband loved it!! Definitely going to have this again!

  94. Absolutely delicious!!!! I doubled everything as I love gravy and had mashed potatoe and Yorkshire pudding with it…. Will be making again…

  95. Cant find dry mix french onion soup in my shops… wat else can i use? Would a bit on tinned french onion soup be ok?

  96. Was soooo yummy. You definitely cant taste any mushrooms. I left the mint out of it though. I do recommend maybe try using lamb that doesnt have bones as there are a bit annoying but definitely worth it. Yum yum yum

  97. Made this tonight, was amazing! No taste of mushroom and couldn’t taste mint either. Was so easy and was wonderful with mashed potato.. Will definitely be doing it again ?

  98. Oh boy!! What can i say, but its finger licking good. Amazing meal. Not a word was spoken during it. And you cant taste the mushroom.

  99. Huge shout out to Pauline! Finally did Lamb Obsession today (did mine with boneless lamb rump steak)
    BLOODY BEAUTIFUL!!
I didn’t add mint sauce as none of us like it so didn’t think it was worth buying.
And I needed to use up some mushrooms, so I sliced and chucked them in too.
    Yum!

  100. Yum! I kept reading reviews and comments raving how good this recipe is … and it did not disappoint. Omitted the mint sauce and it was delicious. Even satisfied hubby who hates mushrooms with a passion. Definitely a winner in this household.

  101. Had this on couscous with steamed veggies,
Was very nice and a hit with my 3 kids,
    Will be making it again.

  102. It was ok I’d make it again I wouldn’t use chops as I hated finding the small bones annoying while eating

  103. Very successful, even hubby enjoyed it. I used heart smart lamb steaks, smashed roast potato, pumpkin , peas and carrots.
    Will definately make again.

  104. The Lamb obsession was absolutely beautiful, and so easy to make.
The kids and hubby ate it all so next time will have to make a bigger batch!

Thanks again for Easy and tasty recipes!

  105. This is one recipe we go back to again and again. It’s amazing! I don’t change anything coz we LOVE it just the way it is. Even my ‘I don’t eat casseroles’ daughter loves it and steals mine.

  106. I don’t eat lamb but heard so many good things about this recipe I thought I would give it a try with Casserole Beef. Im so glad I did!! this is definitely a fave in my family, even my extremely fussy 5 year old says its her favourite meat! I followed the recipe but replaced Lamb with Beef and didn’t include the mint Jelly. Thankyou, SCC

  107. My daughter is v vocal about her dislike for mushrooms and she also doesn’t usually like casserole. She went back for seconds for this and said Mum you should make this again soon! The 2nd time I made it I only had cream of chicken soup still worked out like a dream just a little saltier.
Thanks for sharing. a family fave now.

  108. Used a lamb leg roast and shredded it at the end. It was delicious!
Didn’t put mint in? Though I love mint jelly so might try it next time.

  109. This is my favourite slow cook recipe, we also use it with beef minus the mint sauce ( I add a few extra shakes of worchestershire sauce) .
    Whole family loves it

  110. Hi guys just put on with a boneless lamb leg 1.2kg. I find French onion packet super salty in cooking so I used salt reduced. Should I double the recipe for this size and use two soups and two salt reduced packets for extra gravy at the end? Or will it be too salty?

  111. Believe the hype!
Used 4 chump Chops cooked to the same measurements. Didn’t add onion.
Love how thick and saucy the sauce is.
was cooked to perfection at 5 hr in a 3.5L russel Hobbs cooker.
I’ve never cooked cooked chops before and mr pig made a bold statement saying it the best chop dish his ever had –
Very flavours j and the mushroom and mint isn’t to obvious.

  112. Cooked this for the inlaws Sunday night. Was a HUGE hit. I doubled the recipe, and as we like, there was plenty of sauce to go around. Will definitely be cooking again! ?

  113. I cooked this with a 2.2kg roast lamb and put carrots under the roast they were yummo, then i thicked the sauce at the end with corn flour it was absolutely delish my kids licked there plates clean.
my 5 year old usually dosn’t
Like lamb but loved this ???

  114. Personally found this extremely average. Was sad to have wasted perfectly good lamb. Not one person in the household thought it was worth the hype.

  115. Danielle Garrard

OMG simply amazing. Smelt so good (ok i admit it i had a taste test) I didnt want to wait while I made anything to go with it,so we made it into lamb rolls. I also added more mint jelly as we love it.

  116. First time making this house is smelling amazing had a sneaky taste of the sauce too as i am not a fan of tinned soups but must say cant wait for dinner!!

  117. Sharon Robinson

This was not only delicious, but super easy. Hubby absolutely loved it too. It will be a regular here.

  118. A fave in our house. I’ve used forequarter chops, chops, leg of lamb and even lamb sausages. All are amazing. ??
PS – Also yummy with Chicken Thighs (omit the mint sauce when using Chicken)

  119. Yum yum yum had this tonight for the first time and it was absolutely delicious and now one of my favorites I used shank meat that had already been deboned and I added a little extra mint sauce probably half a tablespoon cos I like lots of mint sauce with my lamb definitely will be cooking this again

  120. Jessica Doensen

Love it! Was hesitant to try but it really works. I used forquarter chops I picked upon the cheap and the meat fell off the bone. Will do again.

  121. Natalie Chellew

This is my favourite SC recipe! We love mushrooms, so I add some chopped mushrooms in the last hour of cooking. I also add a peeled potato (to absorb some of the salt) in the last hour and throw out at the end. My only regret is not knowing about this recipe sooner!

  122. Absolutely obsessed with this recipe, we have had it with forequarter chops, whole lamb leg roast , diced beef chunks. Then the other night we tried it with chicken. OMG it was amazing! Loved it so much. I did the sauce as usual and added the chicken breasts whole then near the end I took them out, shredded them and added back to the sauce. Served on mash as usual

  123. I made this using gravy beef – I added some sliced mushrooms (which we love) and substituted mint sauce for horseradish. It was awesome.

  124. I’m not one for mushrooms but I tried this and can’t even taste them:
I done this with a lamb roast . Was delicious

  125. Big favourite in our house!!
Only change I do is substitute the mushroom soup for cream of chicken soup. As I really don’t like mushrooms and I can taste them through the dish.

Next time going to attempt this with a roast lamb

  126. Didn’t have any lamb. So use chuck beef. Did everything same. Beautiful. Even impressed the hubby.

  127. Any ideas on how to make this gluten free? Campbells don’t appear to make gluten free soups, is there another product that can be used instead?

  128. finally got around to trying the lamb obsession recipe!!! the first time i did it i’d forgotten to buy the french onion soup mix and i though it was the best but after trying it again…. with all the ingredients…. definitely became a fav in our house!!! the only thing i changed or should i say added is more mint jelly. i am a fan of lamb and mint and i felt like just a couple of tablespoons of mint was not enough. so once it was cooked, just before serving i added…. the rest of the jar of jelly!!! and it was beautiful. hubby went back for two more serve and my boy, fusy eater, went back for a second serve!! winner!!!!

  129. Patricia Lawrence

I used lamb steaks to avoid the bone factor, served up with the usual suspect veges and it was a huge hit with my “fussy eating” family…
It has been requested I make a meat & potato pie out of the left overs ???

  130. I used venison rump chunks (Sambar) instead of lamb, I also added halved potatoes too!
Was beautiful – whole family enjoyed it (yes – you read correctly haha!).

  131. Tried this recently, as a family of mushroom haters (me most especially) I was dubious, but it was so DELICIOUS and I’ve made it again several times since. Yummo.

  132. Absolutely delish. I would use half a packet of french onion soup mix next time as was a little rich. But loved it

  133. I am OBSESSED with this meal! I have it weekly by far the best meal ever and it was the first meal I ever cooked in my slow cooker.

  134. Donna Andrews

My first recipe from this page, it was delicious, very tasty and falling off the bone. My husband enjoyed it very much and licked the plate clean.
I left out the mint jelly as I don’t like even the slightest taste of mint. Can’t wait to try the next recipe.

  135. This is my go to most talked about slow cooker meal, its SOO yummy an easy to put together!! You will not be disappointed if you cook this,if your at all concerned about the mushroom soup DONT, you cant taste it an you would not know itvwas in there unless you tell someone, I have to admit Im very heavy handed with the mint, but thats just my preference, please try this..you will be blown away by SMELL,TASTE,an its simplicity to put together in a matter of minutes, great job Paulene

  136. We had used a Beef Bolar roast for this recipe, and it was absolutely delicious. I hate mushrooms, but if you didn’t know they were in the recipe you wouldn’t know…

  137. I made lamb obsession for the first time today. I now see why everyone raves about it – it was to die for. Myself and my 2 year old daughter devoured it. And the smell in the house while it was cooking only made it more enjoyable! ?

  138. I don’t eat much lamb, but got offcuts really cheap a couple of days ago. I was going to make a more rustic based recipe but then thought I would see what the raves were about as I had all the ingredients.. wow .. just wow. I used plain onion soup rather than french onion, I also added a heap of sliced fresh mushrooms so tender and delicious.. whoever created this should be so proud ?

  139. I finally tried this and I can’t believe I didn’t sooner! It was demolished by all and will definitely be made again. I used forequarter chops and the meat just fell off the bone. A great recipe for lamb that doesn’t involved a tomato base. Huge thumbs up here!

  140. I made this the other night. I am the worlds most avid mushroom hater and I couldn’t taste it. I used chops and the meat was just falling off the bone. My 9yr old and I loved it. Will be making again here too! ??

  141. Andrea Askraba

One of the recipes I am going to make again and again!
So easy to put together, let the slow cooker do all the job and it comes out so delicious!
Second helpings were made and plates polished off.
If you haven’t tried this recipe yet, I strongly suggest you do, perfect weather for it too! Brrr!

  142. I made the look lamb obsession tonight for the first time and definitely will be making it again it was yummo

  143. I made this last night using lamb offcuts and without the mint sauce/jelly.

Omg YUM! Will make again. So easy and delicious.

  144. First time I’ve made Lamb Obsession, love it. Omitted the mint as I’m not keen on it. Added a Gravox Brown Onion & Garlic packet at the end to thicken a bit.

  145. I used lamb steaks, I omit the mint sauce only because it gives a tang that the sauce doesn’t need.

  146. Made for the second time tonight. Made a few tweaks this time by doubling worcestshire sauce and mint jelly and adding mushrooms.

  147. The Lamb obsession is absolutely beautiful and the smell while it’s cooking is amazing and will diffentley cook it again

  148. This recipe is amazing!!
I hate mushrooms and am not fussed on mint sauce……but this was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!
The house smelt amazing all day and the family all went back for seconds!
    Cheering!

  149. I have seen people raving about this recipe for months, but I’m not much of a lamb lover. I found some cheap lamb chops, & of course, HAD to try this recipe! As I opened the cream of mushroom soup & watched it glug into the bowl, I didn’t have much hope. What was I cooking???? Boy was I surprised when I came home to an amazing smelling house. As I opened the slow cooker to have a look I could see a delicious, thick gravy on top of my super tender lamb chops. Definitely a winner!!

  150. Nicolle Maziarz

This was amazing, my son said wow after only a taste of the sauce!! I did 2 tins of the soup and 1pkt french onion and left out the mint sauce for the kids, but was perfect ? definitely you g to be a regular!

  151. Loved this recipe. Hubby said tastes just like his mother makes. Such an easy dinner too. Will make sure it’s now added to our meal rotation. Also didn’t add the mint jelly only because we didn’t have any

  152. Amazing! Whole family loved it. Doubled the recipe as I’ve got a hollow teenager and an equally hollow nearly teenager and it was perfect. Will definitely make again.

  153. Lauren Spackman

Amazing, hubby loved it. We cooked it with beef and i did a side of the sweet potato mash featured in book 6 and some steamed broccoli..

  154. I am not a fan of red meat, but decided to give this a go. It was the best meal I’ve had in ages, will definitely be a regular in my house!

  155. Margaret Anne Goodger

I made this recipe yesterday for the first time. It was delicious. Meat fell off the bone. Next time will do it with a leg of lamb. Too nice just for one night. Need leftovers for tomorrows dinner.

  156. As I don’t eat lamb, I made this with beef chunks.
Served on a creamy mash with a side of steamed carrots and green beans
I left out the mint and added mushrooms as we’re a family of mushroom lovers.

Every plate came back completely empty, it was phenomenal

  157. Ok ok I’ve been doing a quite a few recipes off this wonderful site some have been hit and miss others are yeap that’s a keeper, well all this time I’ve been like “I’m sure I’ve tried the lamb obsession “ and must not have liked it so thought I would try again and OMG nope I’ve never tried it and I am in absolute love this dish is absolutely my favorite now thank you slow cooker recipes xxxxx

  158. Made this for the first time a few days ago and all my 6 children and husband loved it i added a little flour at the end to thicken up sauce and use diced lamb chops as I have youngsters and had sour cream and chive mash and vegetables on the side

  159. I got a recipe that was exactly the same but with sausages instead. It was extremely salty, chucked it all out. Can anyone confirm if this is salty???

    1. We have Sausage Obsession too but the sausages are definitely a saltier version I find than lamb – ? the salt in the sausages already
To further decrease salt use salt reduced soups for the recipe
Thirdly if you are extra sensitive to salt – pop a pealed raw potato in the pot in the final hour or so (it absorbs salt from the dish then discard the potato prior to serving)

  160. Thank you so much for this recipe Paulene is was just delicious, I made it with lamb four quarter chops, so yummy, I will be making this again for sure.

  161. This recipe is so moist & tasty Paulene. You are a magician with your recipes and have found this group so helpful, full of information & encouraging. Thank you all so much for the time & effort you put into keeping this site running.

  162. Have made this with sausages, really good. Tonight I made it with a 900g piece of beef, doubled the cream of mushroom soup and left out the mint sauce. Cooked on high for 3 hours then low on 2 (I put it on a bit late after sleeping in lol)- fell apart as I sliced it. Served with mash, roast carrots and potatoes. Mr “I’m so sick” 13 decided he was well enough to eat and has cleaned his plate, I’m almost finished mine (rare for me to eat a full plate of food), and any leftovers (highly unlikely but will try lol) will be used in pies tomorrow. Amazing ?

  163. Made this purely based on all the reviews. Made it with chicken thighs instead of lamb and used Continental’s low salt French onion soup mix and no mint sauce. Turned out fine, sauce was quite mild in flavour, not salty. Wouldn’t rave about it but nothing wrong with it either. Would make it again.

  164. What a great easy recipe!
I had leftover beef roast I wanted to use, and everything else in the pantry. I added carrots and potatoes, left out the mint as I did not have any.

  165. Made the Lamb obsession roast again last night beautiful tender lamb falling off bone just relish great flavours don’t change a thing. Family birthday dinner everyone loved it

  166. Just made this recipe using lamb shanks. I must say it’s better than a restaurant meal. Delicious!!

  167. AMAZING!! So easy and sooooo delicious. We don’t eat lamb so I used thin steaks cut into quite small pieces. Served with mash and veg. The little ones ate without a complaint (unheard of) and husband had seconds.
I followed the recipe and wouldn’t change a thing.

  168. Hate mushrooms but hubby and son do so I reluctantly made this dish and waited til they tasted it first. Omitted the mint sauce but loved it. Will be making again. No mushroom taste at all

  169. I made this tonight but didn’t have french onion soup mix so I used Dutch curry and rice soup mix with tumeric added to the mint sauce, worchestire sauce and water and poured over the lamb roast. OMG it was amazing…

  170. sharon scanlon

I had this last night with osso bucco as that was what I had in the freezer I had it with penne it was yummy even my partner said it was very tasty and he does not like any thing stew like so it will stay on my menu the left over will be made into pies thank you for your recipe.

  171. Samantha Sheehan

Finally tried this recipe, and was definitely not disappointed! I was concerned it would be to salty, but it all works so well together. I used diced lamb and added in chunky cut carrots served with steamed broccolini and potato and sweet potato mash. I’ll definitely make it again

  172. This meal was amazing the flavour and tenderness of the meat was absolutely beautiful this will definitely be a regular meal in my home ?

  173. I tried reading the comments. So many! Have had it before and really enjoyed it. Wondering if anyone has had it with polenta. Trying to decide if i do polenta or mash

  174. I cooked a variation of this, using lamb shanks on a bed of onion, over which was sprinkled a teaspoon of fennel seeds. I also used cream of chicken soup, being unable to get cream of mushroom at the local store. I also omitted the mint sauce. It was cooked for 2 hours on high, then 6 hours on low. I was very pleased with the outcome – very, very tender meat and tasty sauce. I will be doing this again.

  175. Thank you Pauline for the lamb obsession recipe. I used shank meat from Coles, so no bones?

Being married to an Indian meant I had to up the spice game but instead of adding in additional spices, i threw in 2 red chillies. Everyone had seconds, even Mr 6 who declared: “you’re the best  cooker, Mum”?

I added in a bag of baby spinach and served with polenta and cheesy cauliflower

Ps. clearly I couldn’t wait to start devouring but then i opted to take a pic to thank you ?

  176. I made Lamb Obsession with lamb shank meat this week. The result was amazing, this is my favourite slow cooker recipe. I have printed it out and shared to lots of people and the feedback is great.

  177. You know you’re on a winner when the young lads request this meal as their choice of birthday dinner, especially when they can choose anything, including takeaways. You cannot tell there is mushroom in this meal. Our go to meat for this dish is a big leg of lamb, plenty for seconds.

  178. Used this recipe for years although I will say this, if I don’t cut the fat off the lamb chops it always ends up coming out really oily, would anyone have any suggestions on how to go about this?

  179. Made for the first time. I did exactly as recipe stated.
    Used 4 quarter lamb chops
    Was impressed with flavour.

  180. Tried this for the first time. I don’t like mushrooms, but, couldn’t taste the mushroom soup.a total winner.will definitely be cooking lamb obsession again

  181. Love love Lamb Obsession, I also converted it to Pork Obsession- I substitute the mint sauce and add about 100-200mil of apple sauce (about a baby food jar) my family love both. I use fore quarter chops in my lamb obs

  182. This is our favourite. My daughter detests mushrooms but can’t detect it in this recipe. I just shake the Worcestershire sauce to my liking (a lot) and add a whole jar of mint jelly. If there is left over lamb, I make shepherds pies. Never any waste here

  183. This is soooo good!! Made it with blade roast instead of lamb and it turned out great!! Had enough left over for roast beef rolls for lunch the next day ?

  184. Has anyone used dry packet of mushroom soup? I couldn’t find the tin at my supermarket. Thank you ?

  185. This is on the regular rotation at our house. A crowd favourite. I use beef or lamb, whatever I have in the freezer. I add baby potatoes and tinned champignons to bulk it up a bit. I often catch the teenagers or the husband mopping up the empty slow cooker bowl with a slice of bread and butter. It’s that good!

  186. Today is the 3rd time I’ve made this in 2 weeks. I have used chicken, beef and lamb for tonight.. talk about obsessed my husband certainly is with this sauce!.

  187. Christine Dyson

I forgot to buy the french onion soup pack…can I just omit or is there something I can use instead?

  188. Made this today, my changes being, made my own gluten free Cream of chicken soup (don’t like mushrooms) & used G’F French onion soup mix & G/F Worcestershire Sauce, had no mint sauce or Jelly so added finely chopped fresh mint leaves,
Was beautiful, hubby enjoyed, so now I have a Gluten free meal to add o my go to list, thank you very much

  189. I’ve cooked the ‘beef obsession’ a few times now with diced beef. I add chopped carrots, onions and baby potatoes at the beginning and then frozen beans about an hour before done, a lovely “one pot meal”. I’ve also added mushroom for us mushroom lovers ?.I leave the mint sauce out.

  190. Made this for the first time today, yum. Halved the ingredients as I only had 4 chops (half a kilo) My husband loved it and was looking for seconds. Does this freeze well if I make a larger batch?

  191. I tried this one as an alternative to nannas braised steak (only for a bit of a change- nannas is one of our faves!). I found it so easy and delicious , served with steam carrots and beans and sweet potato mash. Just a lovely meal!

  192. I made Lamb obsession tonight for my hubby and 13 yr old son fussy eater. Will definitely make it again.

  193. Delicious! Worked with what I had, Lamb shank meat and chicken and corn soup the rest of the recipe followed was amazing- thank you ?

  194. 5 stars
I have 2fussy kids which at first wouldn’t try then clean plates all round became a regular recipe in our house if it could give it more stars I would say 11out of 10 couldn’t find soup so substitute d it with creamy mushroom jar sauce

  195. 5 stars
I made this the other week using home-kill scotch fillet steaks. 4 out of 12 people said they despise mushrooms, yet none of them could taste the mushrooms or soup in the meal. They even liked the mint flavour even thou it was beef steaks

  196. 5 stars
Yummo! First time making. I could taste the mint but definitely not bad. Could easily omit if really dislike it.

  197. Clare buckingham

First time trying this, so so easy and really yummy, even my fussy pre teen cleared his plate…Will definitely make it again…

  198. 5 stars
Omg I’ve been wanting to try this for ages but was scared the family wouldn’t like it.
Absolute hit, clean plates all round. Couldn’t even taste the mushrooms
Really took me back to all the childhood casseroles I grew up on so yummy, so good comfort food.
This will be a household regular

Wow Had this for tea tonight & used lamb loin chops . Absolutely amazing Very yummy. Will be making again. ?

I used a leg of lamb. The meat just fell off the bone. It was so tender. Next time I will use the T-towel method as it was a bit runny. I had to add cornflour at the end.

  201. First time making lamb obsession today. Was delicious and not 1 hint of mushroom Taste. I don’t like mushrooms. Will definitely make again.

  202. Julie Breceljnik

First time making lamb obsession. Delicious and will make again. No hint of mushroom taste at all.

  203. 5 stars
Have to say I’m a fan. Loved it , even though I’m not a fan of mushrooms or French onion soup. Surprised me???

  204. 5 stars
I’ve got this one going in the slow cooker now. I’ve done it twice, once with lack shanks and today with sausages.

  205. I’ve made this several times, usually with the off cuts from the lamb which we buy in bulk. I cook it the day before required, then put everything into a large baking dish and refrigerate. The following day I’m able to easily lift the solidified fat off, then cover with foil and reheat in the oven. Amazing!

  206. 5 stars
I have always loved the lamb obsession, and know the recipe by heart, although it’s an easy recipe.
Tonight I used a 2kg roast pork, took the crackle part off to make crackle. I doubled the recipe, although I only used one french onion soup mix. 3 hours on high and 2 hours on low, and it was perfect. Guests enjoyed it. So it was definitely a hit.

  207. 5 stars
my favourite slow cooker recipe! Think it was the first recipe I tried from the sight along while ago. Have made it many many times with different cuts of lamb but I love chops. Always served with mash and steam veg. Tastes even better the next day (if there’s any left!)
My go-to recipe in winter and know it by heart ??

  208. 5 stars
tried this tonight for the first time and used lamb steaks, it was delicious, my daughter was all of 2 bites in when she asked can we have it again tomorrow night ?

  209. 5 stars
Finally tried this with a lamb roast I got gifted. Was very very flavoursome. I had fresh mint so I used that instead of the jelly and added a few sprigs of fresh rosemary as I thought it would add to the flavour. The gravy was a bit runny for us so I added a Tbs of chicken gravy powder at the end to thicken.

  210. Sarah Fitzpatrick

Family loved this recipe, hubby hates mushrooms, couldn’t taste or smell the mushrooms soup!!! so easy and tasty

  211. 5 stars
This recipe is delicious ? hubby & I were both impressed , I added fresh mushrooms & next time will add a little gravox…The lamb melted in our mouths…Will be definitely making this again?

  212. 5 stars
So many recipes on this site to choose from but this is one of our favourites, so easy and so tasty. I do add mushrooms as we love them.

  213. Thank you for the lovely recipes
I am a bit concerned re the canned soups I dont normally use them I did use them a couple of times I found them very salty, so we could not eat it So I am not too sure on what to use in their place
    Thank you

  214. 5 stars
So many positive reviews here on this one, but I will still add mine too.
Fantastic and simple. Made this with lamb chops and followed recipe as written. The meal was amazing. Meat was so soft and the sauce super tasty.
Will definitely make this one again.

  215. 5 stars
Love this recipe. Cooking it while camping today. After sunset drinks today, dinner will be cooked. I measured ingredients eg worcestshire sauce, mint jelly before i left and stored in herb jars. Cut onion and later. Fuss free, superb taste
