Granddad’s Beef Stew and Dumplings. 0 0 5 0

A hearty tasty stew. Stew freezes well without the dumplings.

Ingredients

STEW

1.5 kg diced beef

2 large parsnips sliced

2 large swedes diced

2 large turnips diced

4 large carrots sliced

1 large onion chopped

2 cups beef stock

DUMPLINGS

2 cups of self raising flour

3 tablespoons of butter

100 mls water

Directions

STEW

1Place all the stew ingredients in a large slow cooker.

2Cook on low for 8 hours.

3Thicken gravy with a little cornflour if need before adding the dumplings.

DUMPLINGS

1Sort flour into a bowl.

2Rub in the butter.

3Add water to form a soft dough.

4Roll into golf ball sizes balls.

5Add to the stew for the last hour.

6Do not put a tea towel under the lid.
