    1 hr 40 mins

  • Yields: Variable

3 cups SR Flour

2 cups Warm water

1/2 teaspoon Salt

Toppings of your choice

1The sky is the limit for the possible variations of this bread. Include whatever toppings you like to make the variety you desire. Savoury or sweet.

2This could include Pizza focaccia, Herb and Garlic focaccia, Sun-dried tomato & Olive focacia, Ham & Cheese focaccia, Parmesan & Chive Focaccia ... the possibilities are endless!

4Line slow cooker inner bowl with non stick baking paper and spray with non stick cooking spray

5Turn on HIGH to preheat while you prepare the ingredients

6Mix flour, water and salt. (no kneading required just mix)

7Combine half of your chosen ingredients into the basic bread mix and combine.

8Place the bread mix in the slow cooker and top with remaining ingredients (and cheese to melt on top if you wish)

9Place a tea towel between the slow cooker bowl and the lid of the slow cooker to catch condensation and prevent your bread going soggy.

10Cook on HIGH for approximately 90mins (machines vary)

12*note* This recipe produces a heavy damper like bread so the more toppings you add the better to the resulting flavour

This was the perfect side to have with our spaghetti bolognese last night 😋 This time round I used Italian herbs, onion flakes, minced garlic & grated tasty cheese – I added some of this to the dough mix and then added the rest to the top of the loaf. Cooked on high for 1.5hrs with a tea towel under the lid 🙂 Such a fantastically easy recipe to make, with so many yummy variations to try also 😀 Love this recipe, thanks for sharing it with us Paulene Christie 😊

Fantastic suggestions Leni!

I make this all the time. My children’s favourites are:
Apple and cinnamon
– reduce water to 1 cup
– add 1 cup warm homemade applesauce
– add 1/3 tablespoon baking powder
– add cinnamon to taste

Hot cross bun loaf
– add 1/2 cup currants
– add 3 tablespoons allspice
– add 1/3 tablespoon baking powder

You can make pumpkin bread too!
– substitute water with warm pumpkin puree
– add 1/3 tablespoon baking powder
– add your choice of either 1/2 cup cheese or 3 tablespoons pumpkin spice
