  • 1kg Coles 5star mince
  • 2x continental chow mein pkt mixes.
  • 1 litre Chicken stock
  • 2 x grated carrots

  • Place mince (raw as very lean) carrot, onion (if using cabbage add) in slow cooker
  • Stir until combined on high for 1 hr
  • Add one pkt mix of rice made up with beef stock and both flavor sachets from beef rice a riso.
  • I only used enough stock for one pkt of the rice a riso seasoning but used both seasonings.

  • I only used half the stock pkt said with last one

  1. Was hoping to cook this tomorrow but I find these instructions rather confusing. Do you use 1L in total of chicken stock as listed in ingredients or is there also additional beef stock as suggested in instructions? It sounds as though you add 1 rice a riso packet after one hour but then wait a further 2.5 hours before adding the second packet with the frozen veggies???? Which cooking time for the rice component is correct? Also instructions state to add last chow mein packet with frozen veg…when do you add the first??? I know this is probably all obvious to people that cook it but to the uninitiated, I just couldn’t follow (and I’ve never cooked with packet things so don’t have a wealth of knowledge there); any advice appreciated

  2. I made quite a few alterations to this one 🙂

I used 800g pork mince and the grated carrot and onion (which I also grated) for the 1st hour on high.
Then ONE pkt of rice a riso and it’s ONE seasoning (chicken) and ONE pkt of chow mein mix and 500mls liquid chicken stock in on low for the next 1.5hrs low
Then added another 250mls of liquid chicken stock and 2 cups of frozen peas and corn for final 1.5hrs low

    That’s it
No secondary seasonings or packets used.
It was an easy one bowl and spoon kind of family feed 🙂
