  1. I made this tonight! It’s so easy and tasty, not to mention super filling. Will definitely be making it again

  2. I used to make potato bake in the oven and it would always be such a process that put me off from making it that often. I am never making it in the oven again.
I just switched off my slowcoker and couldn’t wait to comment how easy it is to make it in the slowcooker, EVERY SINGLE TIME!

My take on this recipe is that I don’t put in the bacon but add garlic to it – Divine! And the tea towel trick – genious!

Omg. Made this tonight and it is amazing. I was worried the sour cream would split. But it didnt. I have always made potato bake in oven with normal cream. Never going back to that way of cooking again

  4. I was so excited to try this slow cooker scalloped potato recipe! I used my food processor to finely skice the potatoes and I diced the onions which I fried with the bacon. I also added some cream because I had it in the fridge and added extra potatoes so we would hand leftovers.
I must say it looked amazing and we were really happy with the texture/consistency. However the French onion soup flavor was too overpowering for us. I would make this again but with a clove of garlic instead of French onion soup.

  5. I am so lazy I don’t even scallop the potatoes & I use bacon bits from Coles/Woolies. I cut the potatoes into chunks. I also often use some chicken diced into the mix…still tastes great

  6. Hi is there anyway this can be made WITHOUT any form of cream please..I love cream on its own or in desserts but don’t like in mains/sides etc.

Wow, this was so easy and simple to make and tasted so delicious. Definitely going to make it this way from now on. So much less mess than the usual way in the oven, especially with my non stick slow cooker 😉

  8. I’m having a big BBQ and was going to make a few potato bakes for the oven before seeing this which looks much easier and yum! Would I be able to triple the batch and do you think it would still cook the same?

  9. This looks wonderful, I make a potato bake in the oven using cream of chicken soup. However am going to have a go in the slow cooker now but still using cream of chicken instead of the french onion (not really a fan of this flavour). Hope it looks as good.

  10. Does anyone know if low as opposed to high makes a difference?
I did this recipe ( it’s my usual conventional oven one) in the slow cooker with cream not sour cream and cooked for about 7 hours on low and it was like it was just sitting in 3 inches of grease
Tried and true in the conventional oven though

  11. I make a potato bake in the oven using this reciepe but i add sweet potato aswell and instead of french onion mix i use chicken noodle soup dry mix which is sooo yummy! I will be trying this in the slow cooker from now on!!

  12. I tried this last night and was so impressed. It was delicious and the potatoes cooked perfectly. I suck at potato bake normally but this recipe was perfection!

  13. Here is mine
I’ve been making this recipe for many yrs
No bacon use diced ham instead
No onion use shallots or leeks
No pkt French onion soup switch to spring veggie soup one

  14. This is mine if U don’t have some of the ingredients
    No bacon use diced ham
No onion use shallots or leeks
No pkt French onion soup use pkt of spring veggie soup instead
No cheese U don’t have to add cheese on top
But U must have cream to make it tho

  15. Whole family lived it. Only had plain onion soup mix though, so added some mixed herbs. Also added a carrot

  16. New to slow cooker, and this recipe looks delicious, but do you put fo mix in dry, or make up as instructions on packet? Thanks.

  17. Made this in the oven as I didn’t have time to wait for my slow cooker to do it’s thing 🙂

Subbed natural yoghurt for the sour cream, used half sweet potato and white spuds, oh and halved the cheese…
It was tangy and delicious and everyone loved it!
Will definitely try it in my slow cooker next time 🙂

  18. Great tasting potato bake, so simple but yet amazing, I used thickened cream with 2 teaspoons of cornflour so it didn’t split, and added a teaspoon of garlic, definitely will make it again.

  19. This is probably a really dumb question but I have to ask because I don’t know lol.. Do you line the slow cooker with baking paper for this recipe or just pop it all in?

I made this is my mini slow cooker, so I halved the recipe and didn’t add bacon. Was delicious, best potato bake I’ve ever eaten, will be doing this often ??

  21. This was a hit!! Sooo tasty! Surprised how crunchy the top was in the slow cooker, will be doing it in the slow cooker from now on!

  22. Hi, wanting to make this today. A little confused do i mix everything including the potatoes then place in slow cooker? Or place potatoes mix everything else and somehow pour on top?
