  1. I made this tonight – modified it for my young children (no vege). Was a huge hit! So full of flavour! Will definitely cook this again!

  2. For anyone on Slimming World this can be adapted to be only 20 syns by using Philadelphia Light and swapping the soup mix for a syn Free mug shot or chicken stock pot

  3. In the Facebook post it said to put a tea towel under the lid. This recipes doesn’t?

How do I know when to out a tea towel under or not?

  4. Barbara Conway-Steel

My family loved this dish and want me to make it again. I didn’t use a tea towel and it came out fine. I didn’t chicken and corn soup mix but used a packet of creamy chicken instead and a packet of onion soup.

  5. Made this tonight, it was awesome. I didn’t add the mushrooms as we don’t like mushrooms. Added a small amount of chilli and Italian herbs and black pepper. My son says I can cook it again anytime.

  6. going to give this a try using coconut cream and a splash of wine as I am dairy intolerant. will be a fun experiment (the wine always helps)

  7. Was yum, made a couple changes though 🙂

    1 green
    1 red capscium
    375g of mushrooms
    1 bunch of spring onions
Half a jar of minced garlic
    Mixed herbs
    Bay leaves
About 1-2 tablespoons of sweet chilli sauce
    1kg of chicken thighs
    6 bacon rashers
    2 onions
    1 teaspoon of onion powder
    250g cream cheese
2 saches of chinese chicken and corn soup

  8. This dish is so easy and so delicious. There were no left overs in my house which is a shock to my system. Usually I get “I’m not hungry…ewww what is that” Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

  9. Such an easy recipe and so tasty!
I used bachelors cup o soup (chicken and leek). I didn’t use a tea towel as I was a bit worried it would need the moisture, I really didn’t need to worry. I removed the lid for 30 minutes at the end just to thicken the sauce but other than that it was 3 hours on high. Now I’ve read I can reduce the syns for Slimming I will do it again with Philly light 🙂

  10. Favourite recipe yet! Loved it, I modified a little;
    Used light Philly,
Replaces mushroom and capsicum with grated carrot and zucchini,
Didn’t have onion powder so used French onion soup mix packet
And used smoked bacon to pack extra punch
One of my most favourite dishes ever, was a hit in my house

We thoroughly enjoyed this dish !!
    I added more mushrooms
    2 packets of the soup
    Used light philli
30 mins before finish stirred in a tub of cooking cream , as it wasn’t very saucy.
    And some baby spinach
I also used sliced chicken breasts

I will Def be making this again x
Only me and my husband at home now and I was able to put the extra into containers in the freezer for future meal enjoyment !

  12. I use the acutal can of cream of chicken and corn soup, the sauce oozes over everything its devine. Big big hit in my household they want it every night lol

  13. Great dish and so simple to make. I found that the dish was dry as the block of Philly didn’t as such melt & go creamy and it didn’t match the pic shown so I added a little water and it turned out great. Next time I’ll make the soup mix with water instead of putting it in dry and see what happens. But otherwise a winner winner chicken dinner in my eyes!!!!

  14. Cooked this last night it was to die for will be a weekly recipe to cook but did add a tin of cremy chicken soup, and added cooked pasta to it when ready was ready i 2 hours on high

  15. Made a couple of changes used a can of cream of chicken instead of the packet of soup and put in a packet of French onion soup mix instead is the onion powder. Was really great, everyone loved it. I thought it had a really strong cheese flavour. Next time I would only put in half the block of Philly cheese, but for anyone who really likes cheese I would suggest to use the whole block. Will be making this again

  16. One word for this dish…..YUM!! There was very little complaints in our house when I served this up. Thanks to the person who posted this.

  17. Made this tonight. Lovely flavour and easy to prepare. I did brown the chicken, onion and bacon beforehand just to remove some of the fat. I did, however, reduce the quantities of the capsicum, bacon and spring onions as it seemed a lot. Left out the mushrooms as we don’t like them. Whole family enjoyed this 10/10. Thanks for a great recipe.

  18. Used a tin of Cream of chicken condensed soup instead of the powdered and a fussy house of 7 people devoured it

  19. Yum Delicious!! i Used Chicken Breast Instead of Chicken Thigh’s, i Also Couldnt Find Onion Powder In The Shops So i Used Onion Salt,i Used Coles Brand Cream Cheese Instead of Philly. i Also Added Carrots & Cracked Black Pepper In Aswell Will Definitely Be Making This Again, Evan My Daughter Loved It!!

  20. Made this last night. Added More cream cheese, as I wanted it more creamy . Was delicious! So easy to make! I can see why it’s so popular! Already planning to make it again!

  21. I used chicken breast, instead of thighs, Coles brand cream cheese and I didn’t use the packet soup, I used a tin of condensed cream of chicken & corn soup. I wanted more sauce. Otherwise, I followed the recipe and served it on fettuccine. It turned out amazing! A huge hit. This recipe is so yum!

  22. Cooked this last night and it was a hit with the entire family. I swapped the packet soup for a can of chicken and corn soup and used zucchini instead of capsicum. Served it with fettuccine. The kids tell me this is now on our weekly dinner list. ?

  23. A huge hit with my family, easy to prepare. Leaves the house smelling amazing. I serve with pasta, i tried rice but we ain’t a big fan of rice lol.
Kids finish off their plates and that’s a first

Hubby said to put this one on the regular menu. I think this would be a good one to serve for visitors too. Delicious

  25. Jasmine Louise

Highly recommend this dish! It’s absolutely amazing!! I served it with cooked penne pasta and hubby and the kids absolutely loved it.

  26. Tabba Chingching

As another person suggested….I too used a Coles packet of French Onion Soup & also added 298g tin of Campbell’s Cream of Chicken soup…..I used 1.5kg of cubed chicken breast pieces & also 250g of smoked bacon pieces…….This is my fave dish…so far.
Thanks to the original poster & also others who made suggestions.

  27. This is so so beautiful!! I have a family of 6 with 4 men, my 12 year old daughter and myself.. couldn’t believe it fed us all with leftovers! It was so delicious.

  28. Such a lovely recipe. We all loved it ?
I added the musrooms in the last hour and some spinach in the last 15 minutes but other than that I followed the recipe.
I severed with penne pasta, will definitely be making it again. This was a family thumbs up recipe ?

  29. This is a family fav! I make it regularly.

I also use the tin of chicken and corn soup as suggested by others and add finely chopped zucchini.

It’s also delicious on a baked potato for a change.

  30. This is such a yummy and easy dinner!
Even my fuss pot 2 year old loved hers
I added a can of the soup as others have commented, I also added an extra block of Philly cream and an extra table spoon of garlic. Also added a little salt and black pepper and served with penne pasta .
I used cubed chicken breasts instead of thighs
Definitely recommend giving this one a go it’s so tasty !
    I’ll defiantly make this again

  31. This is absolutely delicious and a real crowd pleaser! If my family could have licked their bowls clean they would have! ?

  32. Absolutely one of the staples in our place! I use spinach leaves instead of shallots. I serve with pasta and get at least 10 adult serves.

  33. Oh just wow!!!!!.. This would have to be well up there with my favourite SC recipes. The only thing I did that the recipe didn’t include was stir some baby spinach through at the end. This is a definite keeper!!!!

  34. Wow this dish was a hit with the family , definitely will be making this one again , even fussy kids loved it, when I 1st read the recipe I thought it might of been to rich and sickening but boy I was wrong the balance was awesome a must try for everyone you won’t be disappointed

  35. Although this dish was very smooth and creamy and smelt wonderful, I actually this rather bland. I used the recipe as it was and served it with pasta, as comments seem to suggest it was fine as is.
I wish I used some of the ideas that I later read in comments, but I had been busy minding my grandson and wanted a quick slow cooker meal.
I also found an almost identical recipe in slow cooker central that had Parmesan cheese in it and
I wish I had added that as it really needed the flavour. I will cook it again as it was tender and creamy, but I will be sure to add some Parmesan, more salt and pepper and herbs …chilli flakes etc , and more garlic.

Very tasty meal. Husband liked it just as it was.
I didn’t use mushrooms as I am allergic, so I put in extra capsicums. We have just picked some green bean, so tomorrow night I will cook them and add them in for a bit of colour.
As mentioned above it was a bit dry – I had put in two sachets of the soup, so I just added in about 3/4 cup of hot water.
This one I will be making again 🙂

This is a regular at our house. I however, replace the capsicum with about half a cup of semidried tomatoes. you can also add a handful of baby spinach at the end of cooking.
On a whole though, this is an amazing recipe. It looks and tastes so decadent, yet, is incredibly simple.

Beautiful. I was lazy & put chicken thigh fillets in whole after browning, cooked on high 5 hours & added baby spinach leaves at the 4 hour mark. Chicken shredded. Was delicious & will definitely cook again.

This is one of my favourite go to weekly recipes. I use chicken breast as I’m not a fan of thighs but still has so much flavour
