Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 2 hours
Total Time 2 hours 5 minutes
Servings 6

Ingredients

  • 2 cups long rain rice
  • 10 cups full cream milk
  • 1 tin condensed milk
  • 3 tpns brown sugar
  • Cinnamon - generous sprinkle
  • Nutmeg - a few pinches
  • 200 ml thickened cream
  • - extra milk to get to your desired consistency

Instructions

  • Combine ingredients (except cream) and cook on high for 2 hours. (see feedback under recipe for time variations)
  • 10 minutes before serving add the cream and combine.
  • Cook on low for further 10 mins.
  • Add additional milk if desired.

Notes

  • When I made this I initially only put in 2 cups rice, 8 cups milk, 1 tin condensed milk, 1 tbsp brown sugar.
  • As the rice got close to being ready I wanted a much creamier texture and sweetness so I added the 2 extra cups of milk, 200ml cream and 2 tbsp of brown sugar.
  • I then stirred to remix leaving on low for a short while longer.
  • Today I made this creamy rice.... This is definitely not for those watching their weight.....AT ALL (or sugar intake for that matter).
  • What resulted though was a beautifully sweet and creamy dessert.

  1. This is so yummy, but l did turn it to low at first. Found it needs a little less milk, so l took some out back to 9 cups, and it thickened well. Added cream, and turned to low.

  2. I followed the recipe, but took out about a cup of milk after 2hrs as it wasn’t thickening.. Left it on for 3 hrs before adding cream, then turned to low for 10 mins. Served about 8-10 depending on serve size.

  3. Help I only did the 9 cups of milk like above and have cooked it for 2hrs on high and the rice is not cooked at all and it’s very watery. Any suggestions?

  4. I followed the recipe but after two hours the rice isn’t cooked.

When I first read the recipe I was a bit apprehensive about using ten cups of milk and a can of condensed milk, as I thought it seemed like too much liquid. I think this recipe should only require half the amount of milk.

I am going to add another two cups of rice and put the slow cooker on for another two hours to see what happens.

  5. Cooked it for 2hrs on high. Too much liquid and uncooked rice. Took out 1 cup of liquid and put it on low for another hour. Hope this works.

  6. Definitely way to much milk either add 2 more cups of rice or reduce milk back to 6 cups ….made this last night only started to cook properly when I took 4 cups of milk out ( did it gradually) Put it on at3.30 wasn’t cooked till 9.!!!! The Flavour was there so will try again

  7. I’ve made this twice, both times it took 4 hours to cook. I did use medium grain rice. Everyone requested more ?. Delicious !

  8. This took about 4.5hrs for me to cook.
