  1. Brilliant!
    Thanks for sharing!!

Just tasted tonight’s dinner. Was surrounded by my 4 kids like seagulls, wanting a taste!
    Yumo!

To feed our family of 6 (including 3 hungry teenage boys)
    1.7 kg silverside
    2 jars honey mustard sauce
6 big spuds peeled and cut into quarters or sixths
6 big carrots chopped with my v-slicer

I mixed the jar sauces and veg first in the bottom of the slow cooker, then made space (moved the spuds out of the way), then added the meat and made sure it had lots of sauce covering it. Then 8 hrs on low with muslin cloth under lid. (I have a 5 kg slow cooker)

    Will serve with other veg.

    Stoked!

PS I see why the original post only mentions 1 jar of sauce but I plan on using the excess sauce to pour over the broccoli, cauliflower, and mixed veg.
Also, thank you to those peeps who recommend rinsing the silverside. I rinsed it THOROUGHLY and patted it dry with paper towel before adding it to the slow cooker.

  2. I made this for diner and after hearing all the comments about it thought I’d give it a try.
Glad I put potatoes at the bottom as they soaked up a lot of the salt but I still found it to be salty, we couldn’t taste the honey mustard at all, not one we will do again.

  3. Late dinner for me at 8:45pm but I’m ready to dig in!
4hrs on high and omg the potatoes are perfection!
    Carrot is great too.
Annddd the meat is perfect! Pulls apart easily with my fork which is just what I needed.
I took out some of the sauce, put it in a separate bowl and thickened it with some gravy powder just to be a little bit different. Tastes really good too.

  4. So easy and even more delicious. First time cooking silverside. Will definitely be a regular on our family menu!!!

I had never cooked silverside this way before and it was the best. The flavour was delicious. The meat was tender and moist. The sauce reduced the saltiness and it was not salty at all, and it thickened itself by leaving the lid off for 15 mins or so at the end. I served it with steamed sweet potato, broccoli, beans, cauliflower, carrot and mushrooms.

  6. Ok, so my honest opinion on this one is a bit hit and miss unfortunately and I was so looking forward to it being delish since loads of ppl are raving about this atm ?
The meat came out cooked to perfection and I loved it, the rest I wasn’t impressed……I didn’t like the sauce and since my potatoes and carrots had been cooked in it for 8 hours, I didn’t eat them. So glad I did the cabbage, onion and bacon with corn on the cob ? My fiance really enjoyed it though and ate most of his. I will stick to cloves, peppercorns, little vinegar, water and bay leaves next time and maybe this recipe when my fiance asks for it ?

  7. Sooo yummy! We washed our silverside so it wasn’t so salty. Used two jars of the sauce along with carrots, onions and potatoes on bottom. Put on for approx 8 hrs on low and turned out amazing!!!!

  8. Tried this one the other day. I loved it. It wasn’t salty to me and I didn’t rinse it before hand. I loved the sauce as well it complimented it so well. Will do this again but may add different things as the onion and potato was nice but not the carrot so will find other things to have with it. Will do this again.

  9. I’ve finally joined in on the rounds of honey mustard silverside….wasn’t sure whether it was going to be a hit or not but was really curious!
OMG, So glad I tried it! It is perfection!! Partner was also shocked by how good it was.
I used an Aldi silverside and an Aldi brand honey mustard sauce. If you haven’t tried it, it is a must!!

  10. Took the hints in the comments and rinsed the meat, dried it before adding to slow cooker with onions and potatoes. So easy and delicious!

  11. I rinsed my silverside but didn’t dry it, maybe this is why it was still so salty! I couldn’t eat it but my partner who loves salt enjoyed it. Put potatoes and carrots in the bottom but they were still hard after cooking all day on low., approx 8 hours. I used Masterfoods simmer sauce.

  12. Absolutely delicious and such an effortless way to cook dinner. Next time I’ll put my carrots and spuds in the pot too and cook the rest of the veggies while the sauce is thickening.

  13. Made this in my Breville 7L sear n slow cooker, with the carrots and potato. Absolute Deliciousness !! Kids 2 & 6 ate it all up easily!! Will be making again!!

  14. Sooo yummy! But salty did do a rinse of the silverside before putting it in cooker.
    Added potatoes and carrots.

Was a hit in our home. Will 100% make again!

I made this on Saturday and did the potatoes and carrots in the slow cooker as suggested but they didn’t cook properly and did it for 8 hours..

I then took them out and cooked them in the microwave.

the meat was nice but think I will go back to do it with the gingerbeer.

  16. Loved it, 1.2 kg beef, carrots potatoes sweet potatoes cauliflower on base, 2 jars sauce cooked on high for 5 hours.beef not falling apart which is how I like it and potatoes 1/4’s just soft. Thanks for recipe will make again

  17. Oh my goodness! I made this tonight for the first time…..and it was a HUGE hit! Even Mr. Fussy loved it…winner!!!
The meat was so tender and I thickened the sauce by taking the lid of for 20 mins at the end. The potatoes, carrots and onions tasted amazing.
Thanks for this recipe. Fantastic ??

  18. OMG!!!! Finally jumped on the bandwagon for honey mustard silverside and melt in ya mouth delicious!!! Even my 3yo who only eats nuggets or shepherds pie loved it!!!! Thank you thank you!!! ?

  19. Mickaela Patricia Hanson

I had a medium silverside, 2x jars honey mustard and chopped one white onion. Put on high for 5 hours tasted amazing ? thank you for sharing x

  20. I had this tonight for dinner but I’m not a fan sorry ? it wasn’t horrible just not to my liking.

  21. Jo-Anne Morgan

Made this tonight for dinner and omg I’ll never cook silverside any other way,it was brilliant and tasted sooooooo good, Thanks for such an amazing recipe.

  22. Jo-Anne Morgan

Cooked this for dinner tonight and omg I will never cook silverside any other way it was soooooo amazing I cannot believe how good..Thank you for such a fantastic recipe

  23. LOVED our Silverside cooked with Honey & Mustard Sauce. The only way from now on. Guests for dinner and our dinner was a HUGE success. Yumo

  24. Donna Ashcroft

I always cook our silverside in the slow cooker, today was the first time I tried cooking it with honey mustard sauce…..one word describes it DELICIOUS, no left overs for lunches tomorrow

  25. Nicolle Robinson

Yummy! Cheap, easy, and everyone in the family loved it, delicious in sandwiches the next day too.

  26. I’m looking forward to trying this
What does the jar of honey mustard sauce look like
Can’t say I’ve ever seen this in supermarket ?

  27. I made this on Saturday it was very salty . Could you possibly add to give the silverside a good wash in water first. Other than that my house smelt amazing while it was cooking

  28. Awesome recipe, this came out superb, tasty, & wasn’t salty at all, also rinsing the meat under cold water is a must,I’ll definitely be doing this meal again.

  29. The whole family loved this ! I’d only made silverside once before and it was terrible so I didn’t attempt for awhile lol now this will be my go to recipe ?

  30. Well I’m not gonna lie, i was skeptical! Not a fan of jar sauces.
I soaked the silverside in water for an hour as suggested more than once above to reduce the saltiness. Threw it in the slow cooker and the verdict is in! Everyone devoured it. The 17yr old said omg mum this dinner is hectic! Winning ?
The sauce was a little salty but i took the meat out carved it and just drizzled a little over the top of the plate. I don’t cook with salt so the over all saltiness dish was perfect ?

  31. Margaret O’Donnell

It seems 1 or even2 jars of the honey mustard sauce would not cover the silverside do you have to use some stock or water to cover the neat

  32. Made this tonight and was delicious. I used 2 jars of honey mustard sauce and added some potato and carrot to it. I bought a salt reduced silverside because I heard a lot of people say it’s too salty otherwise and is amazing. Definitely will make it again!

  33. Does anyone know of a recipe for slow cooking roast beef using a sauce similar to Chicken Tonight?
Or can I try using Honey Mustard Chicken Tonight?

  34. Haven’t read all the comments, apologies if this has been said, I’m going to try this recipe tomorrow. But some ask won’t it dry out? I am going to do what I do with ALL slow cooking. Put baking paper on the top. Stops drying anything out when slow cooking. Even stews that that little bit of meet sticks out is not dry.

  35. Never having cooked silverside at all before I was really worried about cooking it. With a 10 month old and home schooling a 6 year old at the moment I thought it’s such a quick prep time why not just try. So I did and I’m so glad I did, it turned out awesome. Hubby loved it and even my very picky 6 year old

  36. Had this last week. It was good comfort food and ideal for a cold night.
However it wasn’t worth raving about, and not a recipe we’d do again. Corned beef works better for DIY beef jerky and pastrami.

  37. Oh man – the corned beef is one of the nicest I have done…. fantastic.. I did separate veggies… and its delicious???

  38. I’ve always cooked silverside the traditional way, but i thought i would give this a try, let me say it was a big hit with my family. My husband is not usually a fan of silverside but after dinner tonight he asked if this could become a regular menu item!! Yummy!!

  39. Made this tonight for the first time it was pretty good, asked my partner if he preferred this over the normal way I cook it and he said the honey mustard sauce gave it more flavour , that’s a win in my books

  40. I have tried this one a couple of times now and it has gone over well with both adults and teenagers. I even liked it and I have never liked silverside. Last time I also added potatoes and carrots which came out really nice. As other posters have mentioned it can be helpful to rinse/soak the silverside before cooking to reduce the saltiness, I just sat it in a pot of water for about an hour or so and patted it dry before placing it in the slow cooker.

  41. Did this one on high for just short of 5 hours (time poor) and it still turned out perfectly! So tender and delicious. Thickened the sauce with cornflour and served with roasted veggies and peas. I usually don’t even like silverside but this one was a big hit in our house!

  42. I made this tonight and it’s the best silverside I’ve ever had. The sauce is fantastic as well. Just a cornflour slurry mixed in the juices and it’s sooooo good.

  43. Made this old favourite today but added a bit to it. Just for something different I used the Keens Honey Mustard Sauce, 1 Tbspn pickling spice, roughly chopped onion, 1 Tbspn apple cider vinegar, 2 bay leaves and water halfway up the meat. Bit of a hybrid but very nice.

  44. Absolutely delicious!! I put carrots, spuds, onions on the bottom of the SC. Served with Broccoli & Corn. And put two jars of Sauce in on a 1.5kg Silverside. Rinsed and soaked the Silverside in water and patted it dry before putting it in the SC.
Will definitely make it again!! Thank you

  45. Wow! Absolutely delicious and so easy! I added potatoes and carrots to make a tasty one pot dinner! Will become a regular I suspect:)

Tried and it was awesome our Grandkiddies don’t normally like silverside even they cleaned their plates every body in the house said tasted different but in a very good way we will be cooking our silversides this way again

    Family LOVED this!!
I had a nearly 1.4kg silverside and two jars of honey mustard simmer sauce.
I didn’t end up adding the added vegies in it, instead having mash and frozen vegies on the side.
Left the sauce runny( there was heaps, which we loved) so we could drizzle it on our plates.
I will DEFINITELY be making this again!!
    Thanks!

Omg! I’ve made this today & am eating it right now. Never am I cooking it the old way again
    It’s divine ???

Keep meaning to leave a review and forget. I have made so many variations of slow cooked silverside over many years but this is our favourite. Nothing else, just add some carrots and spuds a couple of hours before serving. Yum…..

  50. absolutely the best, so quick and easy to chuck on in the morning and go about your day!
had it on fresh bread with some butter – lunch sorted for the next few days!!

We had this for the first time last week and while it was great, and the meat stayed very tender, it was still quite salty despite pre-washing and patting dry the silverside. Will try give it a bit more of a rub next time, and maybe use a better quality jar of sauce as I used home-brand sauce this time around.

  52. 5 stars
I’ve made this several times before serving with mash.
This time I added potatoes and carrots.
Most impressed I ended up with enough sauce and veg to do 6 meals. Also a tiny bit extra made into sandwich for lunch.
    Very budget friendly!!
