  1. Tried & tested receipe. Not a bad receipe. If I make it again would only cook it for 2:15 as it was a little dry round the edges.

New to this site, can’t find a direct reply function for previous comments, so this is if Zoe looks at this recipe again. Where I’m from, a cup is considered to be 250ml. Apparently in America it is 240ml/8 liquid ounce/half a pint. If you have a set of measuring cups, they should all be measured from the same cup measurement, so, given the nature of this recipe, you should be fine no matter what measurement they are based on. Just pack the ingredients into the measuring cups until no more will go in and you should be fine.

If you really want to convert the measurements into exact weight, you could try using the conversion tables at http://www.jsward.com/cooking/conversion.shtml

There is also the point that the recipe doesn’t state what size eggs you should use. They could mean silkie eggs (which are about half the size of a “jumbo” egg), or they could mean the more standard sizes available in shops – small, medium, large, extra large, or jumbo, which again have different weights depending on where you are.

  3. I cooked this for last night, even 2hr on high it came out dry and burnt. I am going to aim for 1.5hr next time and see how it goes, it might be my slow cooker. I also had small eggs, so might try using X-large eggs.

I still ate some and the flavour is pretty good! 🙂

  4. Delicious recipe, absolute hit in our house. I only cooked for 2hours based on some reviews and knowing my slow cooker is quick. Turned. Out lovely.
